I wouldn't say there're any intrusive nods/winks (aka messaging) but the humor has a very in-your-face tone that feels almost stereo typical of what many call "modern writers".

I did not really see concrete reasoning during gameplay. The game allowed me to progress via random guesses, so at times I'm progressing the story when I have no idea what is going on.

The narrative is told in very strange slices, for example, upon being refused entry to an office building, your priority is not
"convince the receptionist that urgent matters are at hand",
but rather,
"I should figure out her name, and why she looks so sad".

As such, mechanics felt disjointed, and the game turned into repetitive minigames with little to no purpose very quickly.

I left after an hour (with very slow progress, I doubt I can finish it in 2-3 hours as it advertised).
