In case if you think Armored Core isn't clunky enough, we added turn-based combat to further enhance your suffer. I know most people will disagree but, I can never understand why Armored Core got so many fans in the first place. Because I am playing an arcade style robot combat game, I want my mech react to my control input in split seconds, BUT Armored Core doesn't give you that "instinctive control", mechs are unnecessarily clunky. Even if you use the best chassis, limbs, power source, all that good stuff, your mech will still act like a tin can with firearms attached to it. It's not called "difficulty" anymore, it's pure annoyance. But we all know that's how From Software produce their games and there are people who are willing to give them a nice blowjob even if their games play like trash.
Half of the fun of armored core is building a mech, the other half is mastering it. It's pretty easy to do a fast mech, with great dodge skill you can finish the game even with the minimal AP, it seems like you don't know how to do it. BTW, turn based mech can be great, look at older front missions.
Just sounds like you were bad at designing mechs in AC. You could absolutely make them mobile in every single entry. While you have the obvious high of AC4 style mechs that could literally infinitely fly, in AC5, you could utilize wall jumping to stay extremely mobile, in PS2 era you always had boost hopping to get around energy constraints and with a full light mech you could be very difficult to ever hit. Guessing you never even played the PvP in Armored Core. That isn't to say I enjoyed how Dual Gear feels, it has a lot of kinks to work out, and it's no FM4. Also as much of an Armored Core fan I am, I also grew up playing all the MechWarrior games, so saying AC is clunky mechs makes me chuckle..
Right, Mech Warrior was the absolute KING of clunk, lolll. (Besides Steel Battalion on original Xbox where you needed the controller that had 44 inputs, mainly buttons but also has 2 Joysticks, Throttle Handle, Radio Channel Dial, 5 Switches, Eject Button, and 3 Foot Pedals... hahaha.) Armored Core has been one of my favorite game franchises since PS2, and with that being said, you could definitely build an AC to have the instinctive control you speak of, but part of the fun issss mastering your AC you poured hours into customizing and making it muscle memory so you can be ready for PVP. I LOVED the flying in AC4, hahaha. I wish it were still a mechanic, but at the same time it made any other play style under powered unless you make a superrrrrr fast AC that can rush up underneath the enemy and get out of their attack radius and cause them to turn continuously trying to hit you. I'd just build a AC with a sniper in one hand and the other a blast cannon or sniper cannon, depending on the game, and shoulder missiles. Then enter a 1v1 map and fly up almost immediately, find the enemy, rain down ridiculous firepower from above, win fast AF. lol. I wish a game would come to PC that could even come close to Armored Core.... OR if an AC game would finally be put out on PC...
I laughed too..... hats off to the pilots though im sure i spent the long and short of my time playing in the garage just designing on 5.... shit was a full time job i regret not having a crew to run missions with though i had some magic.
you watch too many gundam anime xD mech are supposed to be heavy and slow not fucking fast like ninja but people have they own like and dislike i like AC because you can make your own mech and i cant think of any other mech game that have the same customization like AC try Garrison Archangel its a fast arcade mech game
You're not wrong and I know how clunky a real giant robot can be, but keep in mind I was talking about "arcade" style mech games, not a "simulator." Armored Core failed to fit in either categories.
None of the From Software games I've played feel clunky at all, are you sure you aren't mistaking slower pace with clunky, although I don't think AC is slower paced so I'm really confused by what you mean. I haven't played anything from FromSoft outside of AC and the Souls games, but none of them feel like pure annoyance, it feels rewarding to learn and understand the games mechanics. This game isn't Armored Core btw, and isn't made by FromSoft, so ranting about them here doesn't make any sense.
" BUT Armored Core doesn't give you that "instinctive control", mechs are unnecessarily clunky" I don't know what AC games you have been playing but you are factually WRONG in this "Even if you use the best chassis, limbs, power source, all that good stuff, your mech will still act like a tin can with firearms attached to it." Oh yeah? So how come i was able to build a mech that could reach incredibly high speeds, dodge just about everything thrown at me in a split second and still had enough firepower(Granted it was all energy based weapons so i needed a REALLY good reactor) to take down anything the game threw at me? Don't confuse you not being able to play the game with the game being bad
Except that this isn't made by fromsoft and isn't related by any means to AC besides both of them being mecha games. Can't understand why AC got fans? Yeah I don't either. Others' opinions are trash and u are the only one who can decide whether a game is good or not, amirite? Imagine hating on fromsoft in a random game page that has nothing to do with them. Sounds to me like u just suck at their games and are butthurt u can't enjoy their games like a normal person would lol.
first of all Verdict Day is shit so not a good comparison. Second of all you probably play a bulky ass mech right? Yeah try building a mech made for speed and then you'll see how slow and clunky Evolved is when compared to it
Cannot agree more, FM Evolved was pure trash, I hype when the thriller came out back then but when I see the gameplay ... might as well playing Armor Core! which already been polished or already its own niche. FM only last till 5, more than that didn't exist.
sound design seems terrible, it also seems like they had all the pieces of an armored core or real-time mecha game but decided at the last mninute to make it turn based, why?
probably not but inspired by Front Mission. I've playing it for few hours now, I might say it's still really awkward playing it ... I wish it was like tactical turn based but it's okay, better than nothing.
well ... nope, not like Front Mission but the Core of game is in it. It was more like "How Front Mission Evolved should look like". It was great game despite the action camera at third-person perspective. mean while the Front Mission Evolved was like Armor Core which already have their own niche. anyway, it's a good game albeit not fully fleshed yet. The cut scene are awkward, some part of game are still unoptimized, not many costumized mech yet so you stuck with only few selection (understandable). I would recommended to buy this game since any good game deserve good support for now though it's not much I would say.
I think it is ... Finally the game similar to Front Mission series, I've been keep replaying the old game and felt a bit bored but there's is nothing like Front Mission anymore. If this can be a predecessor of Front Mission, I'll buy the game when it's out of early access
