The answer is yeah the game is better on non-vr mode.
not for the graphics but for the disturbing things that you can encounter on the road and then crashing your car.... but the two experiences are cool anyway ^^

Yeah, I just get a message that says "This build is out of date! Make sure to download the latest build before playing" too. Can't see anyway around it.

If you want to download from the workshop (for Distance):
Go to the Distance workshop here : https://steamcommunity.com/app/233610/workshop/
Then right click on a track you want and select "copy this link".
Follow this link : http://steamworkshopdownloader.com/
And enter the url you coppied earlier.
You just have to download the file and place it here : "C:\Users[YourUser]\Documents\My Games\Distance\Levels\WorkshopLevels"

You can't play online, cracked games can't connect to the internet (but it can if there are cracked servers for the game).
