Looking at the dev log, the first set of major changes - which only came two months after - is the rebalancing of the 12th to 16th days, which were the next ones that can end playthroughs.
Actual options for difficulty settings only came after that.
How did the dev even playtest the game in the first place? If at all?
Frigging gameplay balance issues in the uploaded version at this time of writing. For one, there can only be one monster per floor, whereas the heroes can flood an entire floor and overwhelm the monster with sheer numbers, before moving on to the next floor. Who the f*ck thought that this would be a good idea?
Also, the ramp-up in the power of the heroes is massive. The first tier of heroes have below a hundred hitpoints; the heroes in the next tier have hundreds. The third tier have thousands.
The player is supposed to hire the the next tier of monsters, but they are just so costly. My next thought is to floor upwards and whittle down the heroes with sheer numbers, but the next floor is always costlier than the previous, and the costs escalate exponentially.
The player character could be upgraded, but she also takes increasingly greater costs, and also costs more to maintain when upgraded. She also cannot heal naturally, at least not by default.
Damn.. Trojan... I know people will say "It's a false alarm." or something... I'll check again when they update this, I don't want to take that risk haha I've fallen victim once.
You would think that if the do-gooders know that the dark lord is ensconced in a tower, they would bring siege weapons instead of sending droves of idiotic heroes to die.
They actually tried a full on assault on Dracula castle and got rekt, so every time he ressurects just a couple of bad dudes go in to try to kill him, sometimes humanity almost goes extinct because too many monsters are spawned
It boggles the mind how Dracula would just let individual wanna-be heroes traipse through his lair, fight him and kill him. But then, Castlevania's Dracula is the ennui-laden and arrogant kind of vampire lord, isn't he?
Forget about minions. They are costly. Instead, you build poison floors. As many as needed to stew the heroes before they reach the demoness.
