@For newbie: Don't forget crack before launching the game (otherwise you will get the "no license" error or NO DLCs). By doing one of the following:
Method 1: before installing the game, check the following box:
Method 2: or after installing the game, open the iso file, copy everything in the "RUNE" folder, then paste them to where you installed the game, enjoy ;) (see tutorial image here if you still dont know: https://igg-games.com/how-885614657-to-install-game-and-update.html)
There's a fix for the insta-crash that others have described for version 1.71, I experienced it too. After unpacking, the "Crusader Kings 3" game folder may be inside a parent folder or two named after the rar file. Something like "Crusader.Kings.III.Royal.Editionblahblahblah". Replace those folder names with "CK3" and for some reason the game stops crashing.
hey guys i figured out how to make the dlc work. step 1 you have to go to file location of your game then go back once then find binaries. step 2 is go to the original file you downloaded after you unzipped it and remove the contents of codex to the binaries file in step 1. just replace the files. step 3(i dont know if this one was nesecery) go to file location of your game and find launcher file.step 4 click on launcher settings and replace "steam" with "pdx".step 5 open dowser file inside launcher file and then close it
HOW TO LAUNCH THE GAME The game can be launched by clicking on "ck3.exe" NOT dowser.
HOW TO USE DLC In order to launch the game with dlcs you must first go into youe game folder and click on a folder called "launcher" open the file called "launcher-settings.json" with any text editor and find "distPlatform": "steam" and change it from "steam" to either gog or pdx, override the original file and then open dowser select the dlc's of your choice and then close dowser and launch the game as stated on the previous step.
HOW TO USE mods
make sure you are logged in the launcher and paradox plaza
Good game. If you want to use mods, put them in Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\mod it should be a folder and a .mod file with the same name as the folder. Then disconnect your internet and close steam (might not be needed, but better safe than sorry) and go to into launcher\ in the game files and start dowser.exe you can't start the game from there, but you can change the mods, just create a new playset and add the mods you want. Alternately, edit the dlc_load.json (in the same directory as he mod folder) manually. I tested this with elder kings 2 v0.10.3 downloaded from nexus mods, and it works for me.
The DLC seems to be missing the throne room feature for whatever reason? Like every other feature but the throne room is intact. Not sure if this is because it was not in this update or if it was an error in the creation of the crack but regardless would like it to be fixed.

Is the game any good now? Also for people having issues, I recommend buying PDX games and pirating the DLCs. Base game is often 80% off very early. Makes your life easier with mods as well.
The "issues" like editing the launcher settings properly shouldn't be a problem since it's what's expected when you're pirating. For the mods, they are not really that complicated to manually add although ck3 is a bit more tedious since you also need the .mod file and makes sure it has the correct path. The only reason I would give anyone to buy the base game on steam is for them to avoid stability issues. Idk why (maybe it's because this ck3 release is pre-installed) but somehow my pc runs Ac Unity and witcher 3 smoother than this release.
When you open .iso file there should be a folder named "RUNE", which contains folders "binaries" and "game", all you have to do is to copy/replace those contained files to their corresponding folders.
having difficulties playing vc3, eu4, hoi4? this game is perfect for you, isn't too much complicated than those, but still get the joy of strategy game without havibng headache
Alright, so, I've downloaded everything, game works, no issue. Only problem is that when the dlcs don't work. When I go to the dowser and see what's happening, it hits me with "Cannot verify ownership of DLC," or whatever. Anyway to work around this so I can play the full game?
Well I actually own the game just don't have all the dlcs so I installed the game from steam on my pc but played the pirated version and somehow the mod started working but whenever I uninstall the steam version the mod would stop working on the pirated version. It's weird. I've noticed a similar issue with Pathfinder - Wrath of the Righteous
hi so i did (copy rune ect) thing in the setup and in the launcher settings i changed steam to pdx and the lancher says the dlcs are enabled but when i run the game it says they are disable pleas help me
I can't use the launcher to load mods, it got some problems when I use launcher to start it, but no problem when I just start the ck3.exe, without launcher.
Anyone knows why it crashes randomly after 1-2 hour of gameplay? It doesn't even give any error message, the whole game just closes by itself. Singleplayer only btw
Hi, I recently downloaded the game but I do not have any .exe in my main folders, just the read me and various internet link. I can find a ck3.exe in the folder "binaries" but when I click it crash within seconds. Has anyone some clues about what issues I might be experiencing?
For those of you having problems with the game crashing out of nowhere (when loading or playing), upgrade your GPU. Don't let the system requirements fool you. This game, with all DLCs included, eats VRAM for breakfast. Even at just 1080p max settings, the game easily surpasses 8GB. On lower VRAM GPUs (like 2GB), the game wouldn't even start.
guys does do you know how to enable mods to work when i enable them it loads a black screen than it plays classic game and not moded i tried to download mods from other side its same or it crashes is problem a verison of the game because mine like 1.16 and mod is 1.15 would i not be able to play it beacuse it is not same version or is smth other problem cuz i want to play agot idk how to fix i tried watching online but noting helps? so if somone knows help
If you get a black screen when the game is loading, it's usually the fault of the mod being incompatible with other mods (common if you have enabled 2 overhaul mods) or incompatible with the game's version
So I can't play the game with mods even after doing what was stated in the comments. The game starts when there's no mods, if I enable mods the game crashes. This wasn't an issue during 12.2.
Why I can't use mod when I already change the "distPlatform" inside the "launcher-settings.json" file from "steam" to "pdx" ?
In the lancher, it can show the mod and it also can join it in to the list, but it can not use when I start the game from the launcher, in the game, it just like I never use the mod.
Basically instead of having to rule a piece of land like in CK2 or old CK3, you can now run around leading a band of adventurers/mercenaries/pilgrims and travel around the world freely. You even have special camp buildings and what not for your group.
So you can now play an actual viking that goes around battling and pillaging as they did historically, upgrade your troops in the downtime, and go back to looting and fighting.
you can download the mods from other site ( i use skymods) then place the mod on mod file (create it if you dont have it) in crusader king 3 file on document then open the launcher
Somehow I can't make the mod works anymore, at least from Paradox and the launcher. Besides the steam -> gog change that needs to be made. Is there anything else to make mods work at all?
No worries, some peeps already requested for the update on the request page some time ago. It will probably update today or tomorrow, depending on the scene groups.
Issue solved. Who ever cracked this version didn't have DLCs so the ...\game\dlc folder was empty. To solve the issue, just copy and paste the DLC files from the last version you have (if you kept it) to the current latest version of crack. I could probably create a download link, but beware. DLCs are most likely outdated in content.
Could you please provide the download link for the DLCs? This kinda sucks, the title said all dlcs and I was hoping to play around with Northern Lords Mechanics.
Something appears to be missing… The key you provided for file access was invalid. This is usually caused because the file is no longer stored on MediaFire. This occurs when the file is removed by the originating user or MediaFire. well that's what it says do i need somekind of vpn or smth? if so can you recommend me one?
oh, I removed it because I wasn't sure if it was helping anyone because no one was giving me response if it's working or not, yet I saw over 200 downloads
Didn't download it but im gonna go on a hunch and say its working. When it works people just go about their business, only when it doesnt do people complain, kinda sad but its the way of the world. Bottom point is, if it is not bothering you, i say keep the download up. And thank you for trying to help folks
Now why would a game such as this eats up so much RAM? It's not running on an unreal engine or intensive graphics. Not much in the way of animations. If someone has a good knowledge to explain any of this, be heard....or furever hold that position.
It has thousands of characters, with each making decisions, launching schemes, starting events daily. Still it runs pretty good on 16gb ram for a 100-200 years in-game before things slow down.
The game somehow refused to run. When I click on the exe file, a window pops up saying "The procedure entry point SetThreadDescription could not be located in the dynamic link library ....\binaries\ck3.exe". Can anyone help?
Yes, I've disabled AV. I'm not sure about the driver though, I'll try to update it. The thing is, an older version of this game (1.12.1) I still have as a backup runs just fine
The game is already cracked when unpacked. I changed "steam" to "pdx" in launcher-settings.json. I ran the dowser as administrator. But neither the DLCs are verified, not the mods are loaded. I have tried this in both C: and D: drives. I have also tried changing the name of the folder from Crusader.Kings.III.v1.13.1.2.ALL.DLC to CK3. But the problem still persists.
Note that I did not forget to add paths in descriptors of the mods.
Im stuck on loading screen at the beginning. Its spinning but the wallpaper dont change. Any ideas how to fix this? Maybe delete the paradox order in the documents?
How do i install the update?, can i install it while the game is installed or i have to uninstall and then do the crack again and install the update in the partition disk where the crack is?
I installed twice. The game itself works fine, but I can't, for the life of me, enable the DLCs. What am I doing wrong? I read the instructions already (https://igg-games.com/how-to-install-a-pc-game-and-update.html ), but haven't found the solution yet.
How do i install the update?, when i do it it just insta crashes, ive tried everything that they say in the comments but nothing works, i would appreciate some help
Maybe because you still not crack it before start game. After install, you must open .iso file, you will see "RUNE" folder, copy all files in that folder and paste to your game's dir, enjoy ;)
I don't know if I did anything wrong, but when I downloaded the game and copied the entire RUN folder to the game folder and after running the launcher, the DLC still doesn't turn on and I still don't know how to fix it?
Update: I finally opened all the DLC packs. The reason is that at first I edited the "launchersetting" file from "steam" to "pdx" so when I entered the game it didn't have DLC. Now I tried not to edit the "launchersetting" file and leave it as default and then add the game to Steam and click play so the DLC packages will appear (sorry because this is google translation so please understand)
Run dowser.exe in the launcher folder with admin rights. The game should load up with your installed mods. Atleast that is how it solved the problem for me.
What am I doing wrong? I keep getting an invalid Json parse error when trying to launch from dowser. "distPlatform": "distPlatform": "pdx", "distPlatform": "distPlatform": "steam",
neither of those work. My install game precracked, game loads fine, all DLC, etc... For some reason I cannot get this to launch. I have all files extracted into
"distPlatform": "pdx", "gameDataPath": "%USER_DOCUMENTS%/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings III", Steam is default, but I cannot load it through steam. I messed up the file edit and had double inputs of displatform. That was crashing the launcher. Now I need to sort out how to get this working with steam, so I can use mods. I will switch back to the steam for launch and then hopefully figure it out.
Because you still not crack it before start game. After install, you must open .iso file, you will see "RUNE" folder, copy all files in that folder and paste to your game's dir, enjoy ;)
- Go to the launcher folder in Crusader Kings III
- Open launcher-settings with notepad
- "distPlatform": find the "Steam" section
- Change Steam to gog, save it and run it as a launcher
I used a translator, but hopefully the intent is conveyed.Solutions is to rename 'Crusader.Kings.III..Royal.Edition.v1.6.0.1' directory name to something simpler, e.g. 'a'
Anyway for those crashing on startup and the others wanting to activate DLCs and Mods :
- Change the folder name of the game from : "Crusader.Kings.III.v1.13.1.2.ALL.DLC" to "CK3"
- To launch the game use the "ck3.exe" file located in : "CK3/game/binaries/ck3.exe"
- To activate DLC and/or mods go to launcher : "CK3/game/launcher"
- Open "launcher-settings.json" with a text editor "notepad" i.e.
- Modify the line <"distPlatform": "steam",> to <"distPlatform": "pdx",> (without <>)
- Open "dowser.exe" and close it after it loads all the mods
- Play the game with "ck3.exe" from step 2.

I tested this with elder kings 2 v0.10.3 downloaded from nexus mods, and it works for me.
I get this error after trying to execute ck3.exe, what dll may I be missing?
Once you're there, you need to comment something like this:
Request: Update (v1.18.0.1 - A lot of bugfixes & game balance)
Game: Crusader Kings III
Steam Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1158310/Crusader_Kings_III/

Thank you.
Also for people having issues, I recommend buying PDX games and pirating the DLCs. Base game is often 80% off very early. Makes your life easier with mods as well.
I think your expectation for people who pirate games are way too high, 90% has trouble manually copying the crack folder.
It says issue with connecting with steam when trying it. I've tried installing the steam.api cracks and it doesn't work.
if this doesnt work, run the game as admin.
and in the launcher settings i changed steam to pdx
and the lancher says the dlcs are enabled
but when i run the game it says they are disable
pleas help me
dont know how, but worked for me.
Thanks in advance
I mean the folder that contains the game.
Thanks!

Oh and this works with custom characters too.
"distPlatform": "steam" to "distPlatform": "pdx" it works for hoi4 too
Here's a screenshot of proof (Lightshot): https://prnt.sc/GlDC6xi6ODYm
instead of "distPlatform": "steam" change it to "distPlatform": "pdx" then save,
Now it should work.
I feel sorry for you, my friend. Nobody wanted to help for two weeks.
Someone please help, i cant use my mod "polish translate" idk why and when I open Dowser.exe i see steam error ( first photo )
Tried with and without admin rights
Remove any special characters from the directory
Move your Crusader Kings folder to root so you have directory like this:
C:\Crusader Kings III
Easiest way to make the game work
when I renamed it to CK, it works perfectly with the mods. YOU ARE A CHAMP

I removed it because I feared I was spreading a useless solution.
It's not running on an unreal engine or intensive graphics. Not much in the way of animations.
If someone has a good knowledge to explain any of this, be heard....or furever hold that position.
The game has to calculate for these each time a month passes in CK3. Not just yours, but all the AI in the game too.
Pretty much the reason why having a better CPU and more RAM is more important than GPU.
Note that I did not forget to add paths in descriptors of the mods.
I thought I was crazy but the version I had before made it so every single wife cucked me no matter what.
), but haven't found the solution yet.
You can see tutorial here too (it same for almost games):
https://igg-games.com/how-885614657-to-install-game-and-update.html
1.) I edit the launcher-settings.json file using Notepad++ (or any text editing software).
2.) I edit distPlatform and gameDataPath to look like this:
"distPlatform": "pdx",
"gameDataPath": "%USER_DOCUMENTS%/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings III",
3.) I keep everything else as is.
4.) Save the edit.
5.) Launch dowser.exe.
"distPlatform": "distPlatform": "pdx",
"distPlatform": "distPlatform": "steam",
neither of those work. My install game precracked, game loads fine, all DLC, etc... For some reason I cannot get this to launch. I have all files extracted into
"gameDataPath": "%USER_DOCUMENTS%/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings III",
I moved game to steam directory and can launch from steam. Going to try and use the workshop.
