Hey, if a mod could pin this comment or add the link to the download post itself it would be appreciated. This game needs a fix for controller support which you can download here https://megaup.net/b8d19eab1765b2da60696588438beecc/Fix.zip
I am not gonna jump on either side here, not the company nor yours... but it is pretty good that there is a means to actually play old games instead of having them officially disappear entirely, leaving the upkeep to piracy as usual.
How is it pointless to get this on PC? I don't have consoles for a reason. Yes, emulators are insanely strong AND give you a lot of customizability if you know what you are doing, but that doesn't mean everyone will just get it on emulators. If you get it illegally, okay. I get your point. That will be the easiest and most efficient way.
But let's say you want to get it legally, instead of the way we filthy pirates do it, yar har. That means you have to have technical knowhow on how to rip files from your DS game, as well as needing special hardware for it. And then you have to have technical knowhow on how to properly set up the emulator... or you google the best settings. And even then you could run into issues that you can't exactly expect to get fixed unless you know what you are doing.
With an official PC release, patches can be made by the company and be distributed much MUCH more easily and readily than a team of hobby software developers can. Even if these hobby software developers are ridiculously powerful, like seriously, who the hell makes emulators in their free time? Insane.
EDIT: Furthermore, if you didn't have the DS game before and want to buy it... Chances are it costs like 200 bucks or something because of collectors. I have nothing against collecting games and stuff but holy shit they mess with the prices on games...
most official emulated ports requires a more demanding machine and pay a price for such things who previous games can be played with emulators who are much less than 50% demanding than the official releases and they were free altho unofficially
so in resume throwing away your hard work bucks for things who were already free (ilegally) and works with potatoes like nasa computers veeeeeeeeery long ago
welp its their choice but seriously...............thats stupid -_-
as for consoles like switch its a total different story and one who really fits like a gold ring
Wrong! Pure false Information or you and your streamer have wrong knowledge about PC and configuring. These games are 100% playable wth 0 crashed and 0 instability since 2016. Your PC or even system, and this streamer had/has failure hardware OR most probably a SYSTEM/OS/Drivers outdated, bad optmized, full of bloatware, bad version, etc, OR this streamer and you didn't know to properly config the emulator.
DeSmuME is the only real 100% NDS emulator and have been for years and all these 3 games of this collection are 100% playable, 0 crashes, 0 instability, all since year 2016 (and since 2022, 99% of NDS titles are aswell. I have played these 3 games in from start to end, they are my favorite DS roms and never had an issue, not with me, not in a friend's PC, not in my cousins PC:
PCs tested, all generations: Core 2 Duo E8400 + Geforce 210 1GB + 4GB RAM (cousin in 2016) Core i3-2130 + Geforce 730 2GB + 6GB (friend in 2018) My previous Core i7 6700 + Geforce 1070 + 16GB (me in 2019) and now my 8700k + RTX 3070 + 24GB
emulator sucks then i played those online version for 30 mins and everything worked fine and i dont have exactly a nasa pc since its already 10 yrs old but its neither a crap cuz it runs 2010s games and some quite demanding with no problems
Using a PS4 controller, doesn't work, even with applying fix over the download. Keyboard controls being utter dogshit was a problem the first Castlevania collection had too. Well that and being very obvious roms in a shell.
I got it solely for Haunted Castle Revisited. Pretty good. One thing to note is Steam, by default, hijacks controllers when it is open. You can try to disable this by deleting your controller and disabling steam input, but it's not guaranteed. (Easiest way is to right click any game in steam and go to properties, controller, and then click the underlined Controller Configurator and just delete everything there and disable it.) There are also a ridiculous amount of confusing options inside the regular steam settings, controller section where you can attempt to enable PS support for games without PS support. Also I find just completely closing Steam helps alot in some games.
Side Note not related to this game: Unreal engine games can have the deadzones tweaked by creating a or adding to an Input.ini located inside the games configuration folder (PcGamingWiki can tell you if its unreal and where the config folder is located) and editing the deadzone value to your liking
I downloaded the controller support but it doesnt work. I have also installed DS4windows. When I download the controller support besides extracting it what else do I need to do ?
Nothing, just extract it onto the game's install folder and it should work. Check if your emulated controller on DS4Windows is set to Xbox360, it wont work if it's set to Dual shock 4
I dunno man. 25 bucks for 4 really good games is kind of a steal. Was back then, still is. I get that everyone is hating on ports these days but I feel like that is completely missing the software preservation aspect of it.
Nope.. it´s a steal should be 6 games it´s just the same of nds i get that games and I'm tried buy same game over and over again with nothing new or big deal
ikr? I mean, there's a reason 95% review of this are positive. I also think that this might be quite a decent port too with the added features in the game like "rewind" and quicksave (yes, you can quicksave with emulator but you can't really restore your save game just by downloading again. steam cloud save exists for a reason)
Konami is a dead game company I haven't seen a new Castlevania game made by Konami since Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth 15 years ago. I don't know what Konami is trying achieve whit stupid ports.
Haunted Castle is not new title lad its a game made in 1988 and it was ported for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC this version is a redesigned version of the original 1988 arcade game Castlevania. They just redesigned a little thats all.
Ditto not only Iga-san and Kojima and Keiichiro Toyama. Konami nowadays is only good at selling those stupid pachinko machines. They don't even want to sell theys IPs anymore like they did with MercurySteam's Castlevania Lords of Shadows series.

more emulated ports, really?
do these companies think we are idiots to not know the existence of emulators long ago?

they should learn from natsume who already did a great job 3 times with classic titles and its going for the 4th
