8/10 in my opinion. Feels like a very good mini game, quite relaxing as you can choose difficulty on each map.
Graphics are charming, the sizes of things are just right (not too big or small); a pleasure to the eyes.
Sound and music are ok.
Battle's length and complexity are not too stressful, there are 1-5 monsters each encounter, though one wrong move in hard mode can turn the table real quick ^.^, as in the world of paper-scissors-rock, even the smallest scissors can cut the largest paper into pieces!
Card drawing is not so random as before encounters, you can choose 12 cards to be randomly drawn, so, the randomness is partially controlled.
Grinding of the game is rather controversial. On average, you need to depart 5 times to be strong enough for the boss, each trip is 15-20 mins long; Would you call this "grinding"? In my experience, I played till my heart's content, and when I look back, I have got a ton of cards already. I even had to delete some old cards to make room for new ones. So just enjoy the game ^.^
My hope for improvement are: more tasks, mini games, more maps with special rules (like Nighttime)
5/10 Feels too much like an incomplete mobile game, with weird design choices. Pros :
Nice graphics
Good music Cons :
Fights are very short and barely need tactics.
Difficulty is artificial and depends on RNG, not skills. (like when you get random cards)
Grind like crazy. That's the only way to progress. (maybe that's why the developer made the fights very short?)
Enemies are static.
Maps are lifeless, too linear and boring. It even feels pointless and not rewarding at all to wander around. A very weird choice by the developer to make people waste time on 3D maps...
Unbalanced and questionable deckbuilding mechanics... Tip : DO NOT upgrade your cards, or only a few of them... I would recommend instead any of the https://igg-games.com/?s=king%27s+bounty games. Although they're not "deckbuilding" games, they offer more tactics possibilities, way more freedom to progress any way you want, and the gameplay is richer in general. These games offer the exact opposite of the list of cons I wrote for Cardaclysm. Cardaclysm is now out of early access, so I'm not sure we can expect any more big improvements...
I thought the admin are waiting for the 7th update, which is stated as "full release". The developer have just done the 6th update not long ago. I guess that they will complete the 7th update in about 1 month.
PTPA Very fun game if you like creating various tactics and variety in cards.Early access is promising, good music & good graphics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idZjRPdO0vQ
If this was only a mobile game... If devs could make something like this on mobile without hoeing it out with microtransactions and putting a price tag at the get-go, things like this would be a real threat to the gaming scene. Maybe there are some gems out there, but they are very few and far between. From what I've seen it looks impressive. I definitely would waste hours on something like this - quite possibly to a point of where family and friends would consider calling the missing persons hotline.
