Come on, Pacific rim don't have the monopoly of big mech fighting big monsters.... It's like if i said that FTL is a ripoff from Star Trek, just because it has spaceship; aliens; and political history line..
ok, i find a solution for the launch crash. i download a program called resOmatic.I use this program force the game to launch on 64 bit color and my screen resolution, and work perfect.
new one from GOG work fine. but after playing it for around 2 days i feel a little bored it repetitive with not too much different from the last run. but overall it a fun game trying to complete all the medal and unlock.
I already installed all Vredist and this version still crashes upon start, however it's not IGG's fault, something is fucked up in this game, many websites give this game a high mark but also points out a lot of crashing and saving problems so better wait for a more polished version.
Agree with you, I installed it, but not working for me. But I run a Win10 on a 64bit system. OK Got it, I had to open my firewall to be able to use it.
lol I guess that something is very wrong with YOU instead. Some people actually asked me to post my thoughts about this game on IGG, so why not? It's not like you're forced to read it. There are some groups of friends on IGG and we often exchange thoughts in the comments...
He he well, a review is just an opinion, yeah. Nobody can agree with everything, but it gives just some hints about what the game is about and how it works. Then, it's up to everybody to try it and make his/her own idea.😊 Anyway, I think that overall, this game is worth it.👍
Oh weird, I didn't get noticed that you wrote this message. So, sorry I'm late! lol I definitely know the name Battle Isle, but I don't think I ever played one. Maybe cos they were on PC in the early 90s, and I was playing on consoles exclusively back then. You made me google it and found out that a recent game was based on it... http://store.steampowered.com/app/237470/Battle_Worlds_Kronos/ Reviews are average though. Somebody wrote that it plays worse than the very first Battle isle... lol You know what, thanks to you, I'm totally going to download the first Battle Isle(1/2/3) games (GOG versions! he he) now. Edit: look at the gem I found=> http://www.asc-hq.org/
I'm sure it saves only her profile and not the game itself, mine didn't saved either, but I bought the game, it's not expensive this one, so totally worth it. Buying in the Brazilian store was 7,50€.
LOL! I already got annihilated just because I didn't understand an airstrike was about to hit my area... It seems I lose all progress cos it plays like a roguelike, huh? Gee, my gaming skills are getting worse every day. lol I should change my nickname to Granny Lily soon.🤣 WHAT IS IT? A turn-based roguelite strategy game(by the makers of FTL: Faster Than Light http://igg-games.com/ftl-faster-than-light-free-download.html ), in which you control heavily armed mechs to fight back an alien threat. These aliens come from beneath the earth, like in a certain movie I'll mention a few paragraphs below...😜 Every "level" is procedurally generated so no game will be the same. You'll unlock LOTS of powerful new weapons and pilots as you progress. DARK AND COLD VIBE The first vibe this game gives off is quite dark and cold to say the least. Colors are extremely desaturated and the music... Well, as usual, I guess I'll turn it off cos otherwise, I'll end up cutting up my wrists. 🤣 I prefer much better something like the colorful and feelgood Advance Wars games on GBA. Which reminds me, I was just reading that comment on Steam... "I love the way it feels like Advance Wars with brains"... Not sure what he means by that. So far, it doesn't seem much deeper than any Advance Wars game. Funny, but despite the "minimalist" pixel art, sometimes it made me think of one of the most impressive movies of all-time, Pacific Rim. https://media.giphy.com/media/pGTAcQslD3QTC/giphy.gif Well, if you use your imagination... lol Actually, it would be great if this game was moddable... I would change the colors to make it look like Pacific Rim, and use the epic OST... lo RUNNING LIKE A SWISS WATCH I realize it's "only" a pixel art game, but I have to say, this game seems VERY well optimized. There are literally NO loading time at all, which is getting rare these days. Even 2D games are clunky and slow lately. Also, I got no crashes or bugs whatsoever. It makes the whole experience very pleasant and relaxing. A GAME FOR BOTH NOOBS AND HARDCORE GAMERS But yeah, back to that lethal airstrike, Worms-style... lol I do have a problem with the difficulty... OR easiness, actually. Some people have been complaining about both. lol Some levels didn't require any thinking on my side, and others were impossible to accomplish. I assume it has to do with the procedural generation thing, again. In some levels, I felt like I just didn't have time to reach enemies before they already destroy some buildings...(there was too much water which prevented me from attacking them, for example) Sometimes, it was the opposite, I only had to push a few enemies into the water, and in 2 turns, it was over. (more enemies came out but I obliterated them as fast as the first wave though) You know me, I sure won't complain about the easy maps... lol But the developers really have to do something about the impossible maps. They happen rarely, but still... Hopefully, it'll be balanced in future updates. I kinda feel sad that characters die permanently.😲 I would have preferred a single-player campaign without roguelike mechanics. Despite all of this, it actually feels good and rewarding. It's a real pleasure to throw enemies in the water. (They die instantly in water. Flying enemies though... I'll let you figure it out. he he) https://i.imgur.com/ftKmYCb.gif 😎👍 Anyway, as evil as it sounds, pushing enemies to their death is always one of the most satisfying things to do in video games. (remember the kick attack in Dark Messiah? lol) https://i.imgur.com/SOf5tYV.gif You can also push enemies towards each other, or a mountain, which feels even better. lol The gameplay time could be longer than what people say, with nice replayability thanks to the procedural generation which I criticized a bit earlier. But overall, it does seem to be pretty short.
Story: ? Can't say, needs to play further. But it's a roguelike... Story and dialogues are very limited, from what I saw. And it's perfectly fine. You just go from one battlefield to another battlefield and focus just on the strategy. I don't want heavy stories in such games.👍 Graphics: 67% Too simple, even for a pixel art game. Too dark and depressing too, but it's a matter of opinion. On the other hand, UI is perfectly done, everything is easily understandable (although I didn't get the airstrike thing the first time lol), and every unit is easily distinguishable on the battlefield. Sound: 70% I don't like the dark tone, but sound effects are satisfying, including the background noises. he he Gameplay: 90% Simple and addictive. Very little is left up to chance, so take your time before moving your units! (No wonder... I'm reading that apparently, this game doesn't use RNG? yay!👍 Wait though... Is it possible, in a game which uses procedural generation? lol) Procedural generation needs a bit of balancing though.
OVERALL RATING: 82% The game atmosphere won't please everybody, but if you want a simple and relaxing strategy-roguelike game, I don't see how you couldn't enjoy it. My favorite alternative to chess in 2018 so far. lol Gameplay time might be a concern though. (a few hours...)
I really liked FTL, but it was a bit too hard for me and i got kinda overwhelmed with how much i would need to practice to finish a play through.. so i eventually moved away from it. Glad to see some impressions for this new game; given in the comments. Gonna download it to try now and see if i want to buy it next week. I always like to buy games if i enjoy them, only seems fair.. I hardly even pirate anything anymore, so that makes me pretty happy. Looks like fun in any case, seems like it might be a bit more forgiving than FTL and reminds me of an old mech game i use to play as a kid, so that's nice. Anyways, thanks for posting a review. :)
Well, this one is definitely easier to get into, that's for sure. Which doesn't mean it's easy to complete though! he he Speaking of pirating, I get Steam keys from developers and publishers because I review games on my website now, so, believe it or not, although I post on IGG sometimes, I don't pirate games. ha ha But I'll keep posting links to my reviews!
Yea, had to restart my first time rift play through twice so far, kinda hard to manage energy and not lose it all. But managed almost one full island so far. Pretty fun. Oh wow, cool. I think that's awesome. Since i'm trying to be a programmer i tend to see the difficulty that game maker's endure a bit more, so i like being able to support them.. And try my best to always just buy things. Next games i'm thinking of getting are Tower of Time and once it exits early access, Driftland: Magic Revival. Looks quite interesting.
Tell me about it. I learned only HTML/CSS/Javascript, and I feel already lost. Although, it my little business eventually fails, I'll just go back to front-end developer. I sure understand how tedious and mind-boggling it can be to think like a programmer. lol Tower of time has "pause-based" combat, right? A bit like Pillars of Eternity II, incredible RPG we reviewed some weeks ago...(if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it!) I skipped Tower of time only because I still have to play Divinity Original Sin 2. ha ha I don't know anything about Driftland but I'm VERY attracted by the screenshots I'm seeing! Yeah, I bet I skipped this one too because it's still early access, but I should definitely add it to the list of games to review in the future.😋
Someone else remembers Dark Messiah! Oh my god! Hahaha Great review as always, I'm surprised you didn't like the pixel art (I find the mechs and characters absolutely gorgeous, especially those you find later on like the sentient robots and the super cool mechs). But yeah, its' a bit dreary, so you gotta be into that sort of thing to fully enjoy it. What surprises me the most is that you say it's a relaxing strategy game though. It's so mind-crushingly tense, I constantly find myself getting very nervous trying to figure out how to solve the unique puzzle every turn presents without losing power or killing one of my mechs. Maybe I should lower the difficulty hahahahaha
Oh I should have been more specific about the pixel art. Actually, I like the way the units are drawn (and even some of the backgrounds), it's only the colors which feel a bit "dreary" to me, as you say. But well, I'm in the minority here, always wanting cute colorful worlds! lol About the relaxing thing... Not sure why, but I always feel "relaxed" in turn-based games. Give me a real-time strategy game though, and you'll see my face turning red and my hands getting sweaty. 😅 If I can take my time, like in a chess game, then it's ok. Btw, review edited with the usual "recommended games" section! he he
That's true yeah, at least it's not real-time. God I remember playing Starcraft online and getting very, very stressed hahahaha Man, that feels like it was quite long ago... I'm surprised I can remember it so well, I was just a kid.
Same here, except for me, it was Total Annihilation, which was bundled with my first computer. Back then, most computers sold in France had a bundle of games pre-installed. (or at least CDs were included) Mine had Ultimate Race Pro, Redline Racer, Blade Runner, Incoming, and Total Annihilation. 😀 I guess we remember it very clearly cos it was some of our best days? lol
Redline Racer? Was that the low-poly racing game with all the crazy things like hoverboats and stuff? God, I think I remember playing that at my uncle's house, when I was very, very small... At least it wasn't Return Fire, that game actually gave me nigthmares hahahaha! It was so good though. I think you're right, you know. Even though I tend to forget about so many things (and I really shouldn't, I'm waaay too young to start losing my memory so hard xd), when I look back at those moments I can always picture them quite clearly. P.S: you're french? Hi neighbor! We're down south, you tried to conquer us once remember? Hahahaha I'm an idiot
We tried to conquer the WORLD. Aaaaand we failed everywhere. XD If we tried to conquer ourselves, I'm not sure we would succeed. XD On the other hand, the opposite is true as well! Dozens of countries have been trying to conquer France, but strangely, nobody succeeded. lol (Poor British, they tried hard for 2000 years... lol) Unless American capitalism and fast-foods count. XD Oh Redline Racer was nice but not that crazy, I think. It was a regular bike racing game => https://youtu.be/WYwdxsxr4pU?t=363
Don't worry, we failed pretty hard too. And we were also conquered by American capitalism... But really, what does any of that matter. People are people, no matter where you go, no matter who conquers who, no matter what really. That's why we have dozens of people from all over the world coming here to download pirated games and chat in english hahahahaha And damn, seems I was wrong about the name. I still can't remember it to this day, I just have a vague idea about it having "red" in the title. Redline Racer looks great, I don't think I ever got to play it, but Criterion makes good racing games. You must've had a pretty good PC though, to run that game! I had a Pentium I that had hardware older than me lol
For me, the game crushs in the loading ...
It's like if i said that FTL is a ripoff from Star Trek, just because it has spaceship; aliens; and political history line..

tested
rough start but loved it
Bought it.. with the Great FTL
<3
Go thanks the developers, <3
Is it 64-bit only? Someone help ty
OK Got it, I had to open my firewall to be able to use it.
It's "she" though!😢 ha ha
