Nothing wrong with a game centered around a female protagonist. That doesn't make it automatically bad. Gameplay and for RPGs, story, is what makes it good or bad.
I am fully aware of the obvious point you're making. However, and coming from someone who once advocated for female protagonists in games (and who still defaults to female avatars when the choice is between a female and some generic, male grunt), we have reached a point where developers are cynically exploiting the concept, through the agency of the "inchate" meme (*the meme should actually be inCHASTE, not "incel" -- celibacy = abstinence from marriage; chastity = abstinence from sex). Indeed, using a "muh female protagonist" faux 'feature' to paper over the shoddy product beneath, is becoming synonymous with those games that stoop to this rather pathetic level. Why does is it worth mentioning that the game was a female protagonist, when most games do nowadays, and how crappy must one's game be, that is has to list it as a 'feature'...? Making everything female is not a winning formula for this species -- by the very nature of evolution. Forcing this meme like some fascist ideology, will only result in the extinction of whatever the fundamentalist tenet is applied to...
Sure... But, "T&B" won't cover up ACG (A CRAP GAME) -- and too many developers just plaster a female protag onto their games, in order to putty over the e-waste that they're peddling.
good game my ass those reviews probably got bribed played a few minutes and NO just NO the dev even took some metal slug enemies like the crab boss from metal slug 3
