Gameplay-wise, it's a bit better than average. It's a simple top-down hack and slash, and it gets repetitive fast, because of lack of variety, in both enemies and level design, but it's still enjoyable. But then again, maybe it was the goal, because this game looks and plays PERFECTLY like a 90s arcade game. And like an arcade game, you can finish it in 30 minutes. Many arcade games were completed in 20 minutes anyway, sometimes way less than that. Even the great music and SFX sound very old-school like 90s arcade games. 👍 Gee, even the font used is the same as 90s arcade games. ha ha Graphically, it's one of the best work Henk Nieborg ever did, it really looks great, very lively, colorful, and detailed! Every pixel artist should learn from him! And this game doesn't look like it was made in 2021 (I mean, for a pixel art game lol), but anytime between 1992 and 1997, I guess. The CRT filter could be better, but that will do! 😁 These developers managed to really capture the very essence of the 90s, and just for this, it's a keeper! 😍 This game feels like it has a "soul", which is a rare thing you see in 2D art games nowadays. By the way, the way you save people in the game really reminds me of Zombies ate my neighbors, but there were plenty of other games like that too, I forgot their titles... Personally, my only complaint is that the game is HARD. Like, REAL HARD. The rather limited field of view can be a problem, because you can't see some enemies which charge you or throw projectiles at you even before you can see them.🤔 Also, there are no "continues", maybe the only thing missing for a proper arcade game! Graphics : 100% (seriously, Henk Nieborg is the best pixel artist in the world at the moment) Music : 90% (Edit : music was done by VGM composer Manami Matsumae) SFX : 85% Gameplay : 60% (yeah, once you finished it, you won't come back to it after a while, but it's still worth it!)
My only issue with this one is the price. It's $30 normally and $25 on sale. That doesn't justify a game of this nature. Yes, I get that industry legends worked on it, but a game I can finish in 30 mins shouldn't justify $30. That's a dollar a minute. 😆 I bought it anyway, but it should be something like $15 instead.
A visually marvelous game. I was glad when their Kickstarter goal was met because they kinda wanted to revitalize the old Golden Axe series. I hope it won't get boring halfway in. Will definitely try it.
literally just bought this on ps5 ( even though i knew itd end up here on IGG ). i love the pixel art and old school arcade feel to these games. HOWEVER, it does lack stage variety and besides the enemies getting more difficult, the stages feel the same. i was hoping for a little more from this game, but im a sucker for good pixel art and this game definitely showcases it. the music is fantastic, but the sound fx are a bit lacking. 6.5/10 from me, pretty game though.
i meant it was worth a download for me , temmie going to tell me to go back to playing roblox when all you do is cry on this site every single damn day quit the b.s honestly , every one values things differently but all you do is come on this site to complain everyday and try to piss on others enjoyment
the point is to open a conversation about the game. " it's worth a download " it's the least helpful thing you could tell anyone abotu any game. what does that even mean? lol. " it's free, so it's good now " go back to playing roblox
It means it worth taking the time to download it, use your bandwidth and time to instal the game. I'm not gonna download a game that isn't even giving me a giggle, or that I will uninstall after 5minutes, that would be " a waste of download". Everything is a scale of value if you're willing to think about it.
People have different values and preferences when it comes to games. Your "worth a download" means nothing to a stranger because they don't know your preferences enough to determine how your judgements align with theirs. They might very well find the game hot garbage.
In that case, that could very much be applied to a money system where "worth its price" or "not worth 60 buck , would take at 30" could also be meaningless for the same reason you just presented Heck, that could be even more meaningless when we take the face value of money where one could spend hundreds in game without an issue and another would spend the same amount only yearly. If you go on this road, then 99% of the coment would be useless to you unless it present constructive criticsm, so the real question is why are you wasting your time there ? If you seek true critics and review, there is planty of place on youtube and steam for this.
Why wasting my time here? For the memes, of course. But I can tell you spend way more time here than I do, so you tell me. And yes, most unconstructive comments ARE useless, but at least they can be funny.
Well you're the one getting anoyed I prove you wrong, not me :p So you should be the one explaining why you're mad at someone that give his oppinion by stating his coment is "useless" if you indeed think that most are useless and it doesn't bother you :p It seems you pretty conflicted with yourself boy, must be hard to live day by day with such a pecular mindset unless you just don't want to admit it that is, which is probably the right answer. (oops. triggered again.)
What made you think I was annoyed in the first place? If anything, you proved me right, the money system IS fundamentally corrupt. Did you mention it without realizing it lol? Takes a narrow-minded lad to think "uselessness" can only cause annoyance. Did you forget this is the comment section, not a review website? Uselessness is the norm here, in case you couldn't tell. It's like being annoyed at seeing trash in the dumpster. But sure, keeping making wild assumptions, could use another good chuckle.
