I thought about if it was a 4/5 or 3/5 and eventually settled on 3/5.
The game is sort of like "peglin" combined with "vampire survivor" esque game. The good thing is that each round does not last for too long, so the upgrade comes fairly rapidly. Definitely not as quick as "luck be a landlord" or "spinhero" speed, but the repetition of the upgrade is pretty fast compared with other "vampire survivor" type of games.
Indeed, there are quite a lot of ways to build synergies from the upgrade. But I think this is a prerequisite for any rogue-like game, was Peglin not have synergy or what? Ultimately, it is still the same "dice rolling the upgrade" game.
The reason I vote it down to a high 3/5 is because I still feel this game lacks some Quality that can push it higher. It is still closer to "another Vampire Survivor" than "a more interesting peglin".
I rate the vampire survivor as 3/5, mostly because it was one of the first of its kind. As for the gameplay, I don't even think Vampire Survivor is that fun, and this one is slightly more fun than vampire survivor, but I don't think it's going to have enough "unique synergy" like MT2 or WoN2 to push it to 4/5. So I leave it there.
Excellent game, worth the full price honestly. Didn't bother with NG+, but finished the normal mode. There could be one even faster setting tbh but that's my only gripe.
pretty fun game with a good visual aesthetic and good addition to the roguelite genre - edit - beat the game after 27 hours really addicting roguelite the powerup fusing mechanic adds so much depth and probably my favorite game of 2025
