Normally, in a logical world, I'd agree with you...however, when Tango Gameworks can put out a hit like Hi-Fi Rush and still get the axe just like Arkane Austin did because of Redfall, being owned by Microsoft isn't the safety net these days you would think it would be. The grapics are nice. The dialouges are okey. The movements feel stiff, and the Combat feels extremely shallow. The inventory screen feels unessesarly complex. (A bit like chinease mmo games, tabs just to have tabs then add a few more becasue why not.)
Then we have the Dragon Age: Veilguard problem agein. The problem of NPC's HAVING to point out the fu**ing obvious constantly, and constant handholding when ever you are doing a puzzle.
Like in the werry beginning of the game, where there is a hidden door. You can clearly see there is the shape of a door in the wall, there is a bloody hand pint on a knob next to it, and a bloody smear on the floor leaing in beneath the door. and the npc stands there yapping and pointing it out constantly untill you open it.
I understand people now days are barely smart enough to figure out how a fu**ing lightswitch works, and that there is a huge ask for people to spend more than a second engaging their braincells. I understand if a puzzles solution isn't obvious, or if it's unclear. But are we designing all games for people whit the mental capacity of 3 year olds now?
Outer worlds had a simlar problem, but not as bad as it is here. I have no doubts the devs worked really hard on this game. But it really looks and feels like it was primarly made for people whit mental dissabilities. (Before any one get their panties in a twist. I'm autistic my selfe. So i'm not saying it to be mean or to be an "ist" towards people with disabilities.)
This game have a lot of handholding and turn of your brain and watch the pretty colors going on. Just listen for the npc's yelling for you to come over and they'll point out the solution for any puzzle long before you even had a chance to see that there even was a puzzle there to begin with. Then just keep pressing "F" to win.
In my opinion. Don't waste your time downloading this game. Just watch a playtrough without talking, and you'll have the pretty much the same experience as playing this game.
About handholding, as you said that is the very beginning of the game, it should be considered part of the tutorial. Once you're out of the island and meet the actual first companion things would be different. I'm 7-8h in now and have only come across one "yapping" from the companion about a hidden chest, to me that line feels more like your travelling pal wants to help than handholding. Personally I think the situation is nothing like DATV or HFW. As for combat and inventory problems, totally agree.
i would wait a while before trying the game. just watched a review and the game has a shit ton of technical issues and bugs that completely break quests.

Not all games that work now, will work later. "DRM" can come into play. If this required some form of online bypass to work currently (like MS flight sim did) it could very well get patched out later too making the game unplayable. While this could be broken, sometimes broken but playable is better than broken and not able to play at all. But, on that note. KCD2 still has a few main quests for me to finish while my 130+hr playthrough gets completed.
Another cotton candy nightmare FPS out of Obsidian. I'm thinking Obsidian is better suited to those top down strategic RPG's then an FPS.
Even New Vegas, although with plenty of interesting world lore written into it, had worse level design/layout then FO3 IMO. Like it was designed by somebody working from a different genre, that FPS was not their primary strength.

Yes, pretty nice, i played 2 hours yesterday, the game is running at 50/60 fps, at normal graphics ( with high textures ) with my 3070, and my AMD 7800 H, so not bad. :)

I think its more because of how the game is packaged. Some games have numerous files of various sizes, which can easily be replaced. This game however has of the 73~gb install size, roughly 65gbs in a single file. Meaning any changes made to the game, virtually all of it will go to editing that one file. So its either patching it, or downloading that whole file over again.
yes, that's exactly what it is. The Alabama-Windows.ucas file is over 65GB in size, and it's pretty much the main game file... so once the game is updated, it's pretty sure this file will be modified too.

you mean long install time? it always is buddy. Don't just look at its small size, because it is actually installing more than 60GB. I use SSD, it took about under 10 minutes from my side. With HDD the time will be significantly longer, I don't know exactly because I don't have HDD to test.
In general, however long it takes you to install the game, the time it takes to install this update is also similar.
it's normal, don't force it to close, as it will corrupt your game files. Just let it do its thing. I believe you are installing on HDD right? i saw a guy install this for like 1 and a half hours. It worked fine in the end.
with SSD it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes. But whatever happens, don't worry and turn it off. Because if the update fails, the installer will terminate and show the error log, it's for sure.

I reran the patcher 6 times total, 4 from the mega download, another 2 from the megaup download. Disabled my virus program(never got any alerts when it was on). Ran as admin, and removed my mods folder even though I can't see why it would make a difference. Hadn't actually read the FAQ, but it was pretty much everything I had expected.
strange, everything is ok (based on your log). Please read the F.A.Q in that file. I guess you may have clicked more than 1 time on the "install" button :D. In the F.A.Q there is a note about that case, it is a case that many people often encounter.
It's still not working. The last few times I tried to update it, I have been very careful not to double click. I have had an issue with a past mouse that kept double clicking when I single clicked, but I have not noticed that with my current mouse. To avoid the possibility this time I used tab to select start and enter to start it, still had the exact same error.
The log does actually say it had an error patching the main file. It automatically rolls back the changes so I don't see how that is fine.
yes, "error patching" means there is some problem when it tries to "write" the file. BTW, try copying the game folder to D drive or another drive other than C drive, I think maybe for some reason the installer can't continue writing the file to C drive, for example the write permission from D drive to C drive is not complete. That was also the case with some people before that I helped.
I copied the patch folder onto my C drive and tried again, same error. No intention of transferring the game folder to another drive, I really don't care enough. But thanks for the help.
Oh and, I had done the D to C with i believe the same patcher for Stalker 2, and had no issue, so I didn't really think this would help.

The torrent took 4 hours to download, then the installer reports there's an error while installing and closes the installer. No other information is given.
Yeah, it was somehow incomplete. I downloaded with torrent and it said it was complete but after I checked again, it wasn't. After I made sure it was complete, I managed to install it without any problem, thank you

- Are you using HDD? maybe it needs time to load large files
- Have you temporarily turned off AV? FLT uses InnoSetup to create the installer, so AV often blocks it as a false positive.
=> if it still doesn't work, the simplest way is to extract the iso file with winrar/7z. And install directly from there for faster :DYou know isn't in a rar?
