The game looks nice and has a fun concept. I got around 20 hours in and began to be crippled by poor performance (less than 10fps). I say definitely try it if you enjoy the 2D colony sim like oxygen not included, but far simpler focusing on tower defense instead. The gameplay revolves almost entirely around gathering resources and building for turret defense as you move from map to map. I greatly enjoy it and hopefully they add the QOL it needs and fix the performance issues.
You may definitely lose your first run as you are learning the game and not sure what to build, but that should be plenty of knowledge to get to (or near) the endgame afterwards.
You need to focus on building turrets and ammo immediately, as your only source of new people (golems) relies completely on kills during map travel. Difficulty increases based on how many map tiles traveled, and you can get more kills each travel if you clear the waves quicker (need long range and high power.)
Finding the buried "Energy Conversion Modules" (RNG - shining tiles underground) will let you immediately build advanced ballista dealing double damage with higher range, and stone bolts will double that output again. You'll likely rely on these until you get enough metal to begin using rocket launchers. Ideally you will try to only spawn triple soul golems as they are better investments and you cannot get rid of weak golems manually (without some shenanigans to leave them behind).
Unfortunately, expect by late game to have performance/fps issues. Unknown when devs will work on it. Doesn't utilize gpu or cpu fully, game just falls to 15, 10, or worse fps.
