Shame i like this type of games top down retro graphics and it feels nice to play as well...BUT ITS ROUGUELIKE, there is an appeal to rouguelike but the way i see it is, you play it for an hour and forgot you installed this game. "Randomly generated" more like repetitive with reskin.
Have you tried Hades? One of the best Rougelike game out there, because it actually has story progression every time you play it, and different variety of playstyle.
Remember when you had to release a finished game because CDs... All this early access alpha beta cucko omega, pay (CF) me because I'm generation Y and don't understand how a SOW works, is getting out of hand. early access is releasing your game early because everyone else is doing it so you think it is an okay scumbag thing to do. Calling it a demo is when you tell the person ahead of time that your sterile... but still have to wear a condom cause other stuff.
Randomly generated, randomly generated, randomly FUCKING GENERATED!!! Stop randomly generating every game that looks good otherwise geez!.....I feel slightly better now lol.
Diablo II was randomly generated. Still plenty of level design. So was Rogue Legacy. Same thing there. Hell, ADOM is randomly generated, and it still has level design for its partially-static floors. It all depends on how random your random generator is, in the end; if you go the route that those games took, you do so via tiles with tilesets, rather than a fully random experience.
There are definitely ways to do it correctly indeed Kain and I don't inherently despise all games with it, I beat the hell out of Dead Cells and I loved but didn't finish Sundered and I'm sure there are some others I liked as well (Haven't tried Hades), but man are these indie developers milking the hell out of it. Now when I go onto a game's page, I do a Ctrl+F and type in randomly generated or procedurally generated or any of the Rogue genre terms before I even bother looking further into the game (whether or not I could be missing out on something great), I simply don't have the patience for it nowadays. Years from now I wanna be able to fondly/vividly remember my journey and all the tough jumps and tight static enemy placements and secrets, I don't wanna only vaguely remember the area's theming because nothing else is standing out as memorable. Again though, this genre CAN be done right, but I'd rather not take the risk in wasting my time checking.
It's exceedingly easier on their workload to have a random generator instead of having to, while trying to code everything else, also design a cohesive world as a whole, rather than just an aesthetic. Many indie devs either do it in their spare time, or are doing it solo, so it's one of those traits that I can easily give them a pass for. That doesn't mean that the game as a whole gets a pass, just that their use of random generation does. Plus, if it's actually rogue-like, then the feature should be there to begin with, like Tales of Maj-eyal, Shiren The Wanderer, Hades, Spelunky, Darkest Dungeon, etc. etc. etc.

Trying a roguelike on early access is a perfect way to have a mediocre experience on full release.
