Looks interesting. Theres just something visually attractive about combining animations with an otherwise usually static gameplay mechanic. Like they do with puzzlequest games. Something like this, especially for teh compact size needs to be on tablet to get that casual dollar.
You should try some isometric RPG's. It sounds like you would probably like them based on you liking the static backgrounds with dope animations over it. Planescape: Torment is one of the best of all time anddd is available on PC and Android/iOS along with Baldur's Gate, and Icewind Dale which are also great classics. But if you're looking for this generation quality, there are a few gems that stand out to me like Pillars of Eternity, Divinity, Torment: Tides of Numenera (I haven't gotten to play it yet, but it is a spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment, so it's bound to be good.), Pathfinder, and Grim Dawn. Technicallyyyyyy even Path of Exile, Diablo, Torchlight, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy VII (Among others), etc coulddd be considered Isometric.
As the lovely miss Delphine mentioned; great games but not sure what they have to do with this title lol They are games I am always recommending people, so I don't have much room to nitpick.
The games you mentioned are among the best RPGs ever, but they're also much more complicated, so if he's into casual games, I don't know if he'll enjoy them.
I have noticed an ad that attempts to download a file with the name of the file you are looking for, but instead of a .rar or .zip file, its an .exe, so just make sure you check what you are clicking save on.
