So, I finished the game and wanted to share my thoughts.
TLDR: This is probably one of the best games that I didn't enjoy. It doesn't happen often but I genuinely felt relieved when it was finished.
A bit more context: I played this in preparation for Alan Wake 2. By all metrics, Alan Wake Remastered is a great game. Visually, it's pretty and does not look at like a game originally released in 2012. Many will find the gameplay serviceable and the story engaging.
To me however, the game overstayed its welcome by 10 extra hours. It's an unnecessarily convoluted story with constant 4th-wall breaks accompanied by monotonous combat that became tedious after Chapter 2.
The latter half of the game was a real slog for me, even though I generally like 3rd person shooter RPGs and detective stories. Some of the core mechanics of the game didn't vibe with me either; like how your looted gear got reset a few times during a single chapter, or the "Find Manuscript" mechanic which practically spoils upcoming scenes and events in the end.
Overall, it was a weird experience for me. However, I can see how people have liked it over the years, especially considering the time it was released in.
Inside the root folder there is a file called "epic emu.ini". To put the game in Spanish you must edit the line "Language=en" and put "Language=es" instead.
It's a shame that the comments section was ruined. There was a pretty cool group of people gathered here over the last few years and suddenly it was all over.
That and FastComments is really not the best comment system versus Disqus imo. The idea of having to constantly check your emails to verify comments (unless you hit the 30 day thing, but even that doesn't always register) or even when you vote up a comment can get pretty annoying very quickly.
AFTER RUN THE GAME EVERYTHING WORKS FINE UNTIL I START NEW GAME THEN AFTER A FEW SECONDS OF INTRO THE WHOLE GAME ENDS AND SWITCH BACK TO DESKTOP, DID I DO SOMETHING WRONG ?
Hi everyone, I´m having this problem with the installation, after installing 4 or 5 files an error occurrs, something about ISDone.dll, anybody knows a solution to this problem?
If you're having a hard time with the parts from 1 to 6 try downloading the game using the Torrent Link for it works perfectly fine, make sure to turn off you anti-virus for it may mess with some files and/or delete them.
After downloading the Torrent file extract it and install the game then apply the crack that is in the CODEX folder, do tell if you face any more problems.
I would have preferred a sequel to a remaster. If you play in 120 fps like you can now then you lose the classic cinematic feel and the very soul of the game. This is just another cash-in for the kind of people who spent over $2000 on RTX 3080's as they think 4K makes a huge difference.
The sequel is in the works. This is just to open it to a wider audience on consoles (since it was exclusively a 360/PC title before) while they work on said sequel. The remastered PC version is purely just a benefit in the same vein as something like Kingdoms of Amalur Re-reckoning (minus the eventual upcoming new expansion for KoARR). But if you own the original PC version, that one still plays well...this is just a more graphically polished-ish version.
If you currently own the original PC version, this is just a prettier version. No differences at all beyond graphical, and even those aren't exceptionally different.
As mentioned, this is more for new players who haven't picked it up before, or for people on consoles who didn't play it when it was on the 360. Or for players that owned it on the 360 and no longer have said system/game version and want to enjoy it again.
Not really, this is best for people who either have never played Alan Wake (or Control) before or people who just really love Alan Wake and want to play through it more. Honestly I wasn't a fan of the gameplay, though it was able to create a decent sense of fear I was more in it for the story.
Actually, considering the sequel was just announced, people would have been asking for it had they not announced the remaster first. Especially people who own the newer consoles who didn't have a chance to play it before (since that's why the remaster exists in the first place).
