If used properly, I believe A.I can do wonders for games. But companies and developers are NOT using it properly. They are using it because they are lazy and want a quick buck.
What gets to me is that this is done for money rather than art or even the science of it. I could get behind it for the later two, but for the first? I would prefer something with more effort put into it.
the thing is, the Idea IS interesting, i would say the future of games could very well be hand to hand with AI, especially sandbox games which could very well make a game "never ending", combine that with a good gameplay loop and you might as well make the best game of all time, but judging by the images we still have a lot to go before we reach that stage.
You guys hear that Amazon is starting to employ robots that have human mobility and physical abilities? What happens when an AI gets into their bodies? You think its gonna just be a happy little slave?
I was going to explain how this "AI" you talk about is not actually what most people imagine, but honestly at this point I can't be bothered, look it up yourself, but know you have nothing to fear, at least from that particular batch of robots
It isn't at this stage of the game, but when AGI comes around, which it definitely and inevitably will, all the pieces will be in place for a robot apocalypse. There is no way human beings will be able to control it. Trying to teach it to serve humans like a genie in a bottle is the pinnacle of hubris, and like the proverbial genie, extremely dangerous.
And yes, I understand this game does not employ that kind of technology. I'm not completely retarded, just mostly retarded.
I do agree AGI will inevitably be achieved, however robots used by amazon using AGI seems completely unnecessary, and I am very confident neural networks is not the path to AGI
The first thing we need to do is declare that everything human beings have built up to this point to be common heritage to all people and abandon the notions of money, property, and governance. It would be the end of the world as we know it, and there would be a lot of chaos and death in the adjustment period, as there is no way the people who control these institutions would be on board, but is a necessary step to prepare for what is coming. There are many ways this can go very badly for humankind that even industry leaders have not accounted for. All they see is $$$. Take that out of the equation, and maybe something profound may come of it.
