Sound FX are on point. Gameplay looks generic though. Any good?

It looks like a bunk ass commodore or something version of Commando for NES.
Edit:Yep. it is it. MUCH better on NES. Catchy BGM. I played this when I was younger and the music they play when you die and you have no more continues is so fucking sad..

The original Commando was an arcade from Capcon, not a NES game. The C64 version is really good for that 8-bit computer. It's very faithful to the original arcade machine, this one:

However, the commodore version is missing some levels from the arcade, but recently a new version was made adding everything that was missing:

The NES version is good, but it's less faithful to the original arcade, like Gun Smoke or Rygar, another examples of arcade conversions for the NES with changes.

How do you figure? The NES version is like bang on to the arcade version. The C64 version sounds god awful as well.

Matter of taste. I think both versions are good, but I prefer the arcade original. In other cases like Rygar, I think the arcade version is much better.

Never even heard of that one and I probably tried all NES games. Hmm. Reminds me of Iron Tank. That was a great game.

Back then the adults looked down upon those "video games", Only kids love that, But kids had no money... game developers had very limited recources yet managed to make it better and better, silent heroes.

It's still looked down upon. Parents still aren't interested. Women aren't unless they have big tibs, a low cut top and can make money off streaming it. And women won't be your girlfriend if you re into video games. lol. Games are just huge now because of games of service crap. People don't really accept it much more these days. It's kind of like mental health. Men still aren't allowed to speak out about their problems and people only pretend they care. People still look at you like you're a fucking alien if you play vids.

Depends on where you live and your family background. What you said is no longer a serious factor in many societies. Except in some E-Asian families. A lot of perents are gamers nowadays, game had become something serious that can be used to earn a decent life. As for girls a lot of 'em are players/Cosplayers a lot of their charactors are from games as well. Old era is fading away that is fact.

My cousins and I used to challenge each other to a no-hit run of this back in the day. Needless to say, none of us succeeded to complete a run.
The game felt way ahead of its time.
There was another game we played a lot prior to this. May I present, Front Line? :)

I am a kid of the ZX Spectrum and C64 era.
Later friends had Nintendo and its modifications/fake versions, but I never liked gamepads (unless they were joysticks:)
