If you decide to try this game, know that it can be excruciatingly tedious making progress through dungeons, which can be enormous. Take a couple steps, stop to kill a gagglefuck of mobs. Take another few steps, stop to kill another group. Another couple steps, another group...rinse repeat ad nauseum. That's not to say it's a bad game, it definitely is not, it just needs to have the mob count reduced by at least 50% or so in dungeons. It gets old pretty quick. Also, the balance can be squiffy in places. And forget about bows or crossbows, the way the dev has implemented it, it's prohibitive for new characters - and he doesn't seem too interested in listening to feedback either. Bit of Blizzard Syndrome: "It's our game and we know what's best for it" Unforch.
Seriously? I have a save game of 92 hours, and I found it with a medium difficulty at the beginning of the game that ended up turning to easy difficulty as I progressed. Maybe it was because I created a magician from the beginning of the game, (I attack exclusively with magic, I don't use any weapons) Per level, 1 point to wisdom and 4 to intelligence, then raise fire circle skills to level 3 (you can pass through enemies and kill them instantly), spite to level 3 (this make 3 gigantic balls that go in the direction to the enemies that can also go through walls and all kinds of obstacles), magic power at level 3 (double your magic attack power), and heal at level 1 (assigned to the right mouse button), it's all you need to do shit to enemies by yourself without any army of monsters accompanying you... Then if you want you can create an army of monsters, then, also get the skills to revive at level 1, and regen party to level 3 (I have it at level 1 and enemies rarely kill my monsters) intelligence affects the efficiency of regeneration magics and heals to the point that it makes them extremely powerful (you won't need potions anymore).
... SECURE MONEY INCOME FIRST ... as usual, create cooking and sell it (any type of game crafting is always like that. Balrum, Harvest Moon, Rune Factory, etc, etc ...) It was hard at early 4-6 hours ... (you need to buy tons of food ingredient) ALSO KEEP ANY EQUIPMENT WHICH BOOST CRAFTING CHANCE OR GIVE EXTRA CRAFTING EXP (only measly 1-2%, but that single digit is precious) half material comes from crates (carrot, potato, Cabbage, Apple, etc) ... you most likely buy water A LOT, but latter when you reach "Apple Juice" and finally "Boring Vegetable", you will rolling dough ... when you reach 100% cooking for that recipe use it for more money, and then just buy potion and abuse potion ... (until you get Spell for Regenerate HP and MP) ... then goes abuse Fireball and Fire Ring ... Note : this game is about YOU FACE AN ARMY OF ENEMIES in certain area so expect you meet about ... just say 50-80 Goblin in one swoop, or dozens of STRONG undead ... so create your power, your follower, and your pet army and make them STRONG !
To use your old savegame in the newer versions of the game without starting over: go into the 9th dawn folder "9th Dawn III\GameBin\9th Dawn III_Data\Plugins\x86_64\steam_settings\settings" open "user_steam_id.txt" with notepad and you should see a number. highlight the number, copy it and close the file go to "AppData\LocalLow\Valorware\9th Dawn III\SaveData" create a folder called SteamID_paste the number you copied earlier there should also be another folder with a similar name and that's your old savegame, go in there and copy a file called gameBin5_0 (or all files in that folder) and paste it into that new folder you created
I first pirated this game on release, then played it for a few hours, then loved it! Bought a copy for me and a buddy of mine and we fully support the one man working on the best gave we;ve ever played in a very very long time! This developer is one filled with passion and hard work and listens well to bug reports and many many suggestions that are helping this game change for the better. https://gyazo.com/0918e544d3469ead54c3df5813fa8603 I'm currently working on a guide listing the locations of interesting areas inside of the dungeons aswell as cleaning up the messy pixels so you can actually see where the floors and walls are. I really hope all you guys enjoy this game as much as I did. Remember, support the developers you love!!! :D
... The new 1.30 patch is now available! It includes some Quality of Life features and fixes. - Move all creatures to storage button - you can now instantly put all your pet creatures into storage! This helps massively when trying to capture a new one!
Perma delete creature button (from storage) - Good bye rubbish creature! You can now manage your storage better by permanently deleting a creature! BE CAREFUL...!
Show Ladders on dungeon maps - This one will make the game a bit easier (sorry for whoever liked it that way) but a large majority of people are getting lost. As a little gesture towards improving maps, I've started by adding ladder locations to the dungeon maps.
Added 1600x900 resolution - Launcher now includes this much requested resolution!
Autosort puts equipped items at front - I think a few people requested this and it makes sense - using the Autosort button will put your equipped items at the front! Some smaller fixes:
Because you probably didn't give the game a real chance or you don't like oldschool, harcore Diablo-like RPGs. shrugs I'm 20 hours in and very much addicted to exploring, building my army and dungeon diving.
when i had v 1.10 didnt know what to do to keep my old file in the new v 1.17 and after lots of tries i only copied the old files from the old v from G:\Games 4\9th.Dawn.III.v1.17\9th Dawn III\GameBin\9th Dawn III_Data\Plugins to the new v 1.17 it s all about the Plugins folder

Just found out you can play with 3 player ... 1st is you, 2nd is AI, 3rd is 2nd player ... most crazy thing, each can have 10 tamed pet which goes 30 at MAX ... can wipe out a dungeon just by passing through it ... now if we can seek player to Co-Op through net ... I'm just coming back for a minute, after trying the game for only a few hours, but I can confirm it's a FREAKING GOOD game. (As Adrian says a few comments below) It annoys me it's not more popular. lol Personally, instead of comparing to games like Diablo, I prefer to compare to the old Ultima games, I'm not sure why...🤔 (but yes, it's a good thing lol) It's an extremely addictive huge open-world to explore with countless secrets! Even better : NO procedural generation! Story is almost non-existent(or let's say instead non-intrusive), which is great for me, because I prefer to focus on the gameplay! So, if you want a deep story, go elsewhere! About the controls, I was disappointed at first that the game seems to be made for controllers, but after just 5 minutes, I got used to it and in fact, it works perfectly like that. It's a rare thing in such games, which usually feel better with mouse + keyboard. It was really cleverly designed. Graphics are terrible imho, and strangely much worse than 9th Dawn II. On the other hand, the animations are much better. I wish the developer would keep updating the game with better graphics, or gives us the possibility to mod it. Sound and music : I didn't notice anything special. lol But at least, it wasn't annoying. It just does the job. Definitely not a selling point of the game anyway. 😄 Anyway, unless you're turned off by the graphics, if you like ARPGs, download this now! I barely scratched the surface and I'm hooked! And it's incredible that it was made by just one man! Edit : in case you ask the question, yes, it's overall quite superior to 9th dawn II, except the graphics.
I already have 20 hours... I'm obsessed lol. The only thing I wish is the dungeon maps are so big I wish they had a fog of war so I wouldn't forget where I've been. I'll have to try 9 Dawn II at some point.
... Not so sure for pirated one, but the STEAM version, YES ... this actually designed for Co-Op gameplay with 2 player ... There's some user asking for 4P ... (not implemented) Max limit player only 2 at the moment ...
I’m having a lot of fun with this game, about 12 hours in. Will the updated versions be refreshed here regularly? I believe they’ll be updating this game often.
Anyone got a recommendation for similar games like this? I love the concept of open world with this style of graphics but the mechanics here aren't that polished. Only other game I played like this that I liked was Elona.
Sorry for such a late reply, but check out the Geneforge games on Steam; there's a ton of them. There's an updated version of Geneforge 1 called Geneforge 1 : Mutagen. There's also a series called Eschalon Book 1, 2 and 3 (three separate games). Eschalon: Book 1 is free on Steam and the rest are pretty cheap. Go here https://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/products.html for demos of his games and you can download the older versions of Geneforge 1-5 by clicking "Look here for our older games." at the bottom of the page I linked. Enjoy! Queen's Wish 1 and 2 were really good.
Give the game a chance, I promise you'll get hooked. You really can't make a good judgement until about 10+ hours in. Remember, this game is new, it's being updated every few days.
Exiled Kingdoms, Fates of Ort and Lords of Xulima come to mind. And I suppose if you liked Elona but aren't picky about graphics Caves of Qud might be fun too.
too bad i can't seem to find some open world like elona since that one was just too good. but if you want some "open world" arpg, you could try Crosscode. if you are into dungeon crawling diablo-like, you could try Chronicon. if you are into lighter open world arpg, you could try Cat Quest series
Ummm.... TOME is not former Bioware employees. Its made by one guy, DarkGod. (except the graphics which are shockbolt and some other roguelike tile guy) It started off as an Angband variant. It's basically just a mod that kept growing. Not that its not a good game but its far from something developed by a studio or anything close to it.
i played 9th dawn 2 and i can say that i like it. imagine diablo with some kind of paper mario character moving instead of fully animated character. this game got every diablo-like stuff that you might like but it take some time to get good at this game since leveling is a kinda grind because, you know, it's kinda diablo but you are not some foretold hero or some sort and you die to even first enemies if you are not careful no, this is not a review, just some quick info for those who never touch the series. i'll stop here because i want to play this now edit: did i mention that this is an actual arpg because you can jump and evade things real time and also have some metroidvania taste that require you to use something from later to progress
Yeah, I confirm that 9th Dawn II was a great little RPG that went off the radar, unfortunately. I'm definitely interested to try this one, as it seems to improve every aspect of the previous game!
ah, but unlike diablo, in this game your hand are not tied. which means you free to do anything in the open world it has (or even going leeroy jenkins at everything you see)
Newb here. Is there a guide to follow? What stats should I go for? Dont want to mess up my character, unless u can respec later on? Game seems like something I'll enjoy playing for a while.
This one looks really interesting. Thanks for uploading. :) Reminds me of this old DOS title where you have to open around 15 windows just to play the game propperly.
Haven't played any of them. Only saw it on the PSN store and it kinda reminded me of a years old mobile game I've played. An open world game with such a style is kinda fascinating, since it isn't something that is copy/pasted 50 times after one success. ^^
Aaah I see. Yeah I don't really know, but it looks like one of the rare cases where the PC/Console version is good enough, so it's hard to notice that it was a mobile game in the first place.
Also, the balance can be squiffy in places. And forget about bows or crossbows, the way the dev has implemented it, it's prohibitive for new characters - and he doesn't seem too interested in listening to feedback either.
