Love your rides. This was pretty sketch after the road closed sign. Went another couple miles down past the closure. Lots of loose rock, washed out sections, as mentioned before, part of the canyon wall fell onto the road but there is a path over it to carry your bike through. For the next mile or so expect many more washed out sections, more downed trees and obstacles that one must climb over or around. We gave up about 2 miles after the closure. I was told afterward by a friend that the road has more or less been abandoned by ADOT because of the exorbitant expense it would take to clean it out, maintain it and make it safe.

Wow! Thanks for the update! Did some research, looks like the road will be closed permanently. Thus, we will look at listing this as an out & back from Lake Roosevelt. Thanks!

Apache Trail had an avalanche since you posted this route. Not sure on the status of bicycles on the Apache Trail after EOP. Currently listed as closed. Bikers and hikers have made a path around the obstruction but I would check with ADOT to be safe.
