I’m concerned about toxic stuff that likely blew inside my house from nearby structure fires. I assume that means I should be looking at VOCs, and potentially at formaldehyde (it was old structures, so made from lots of crazy materials)?
So I was probably looking at the QP, or maybe the Temtop. But it looks like Purple now offers VOC in many of their sensors, which I'm guessing will be part of your updated guide.
The challenge is that all of the consumer models show all VOC's and most are are not harmful - which can create unneeded anxiety as a high number doesn't always mean its bad so just something to be aware of.
Spot on review. I have a few highly rated indoor air quality monitors but the QP Pro is definitely my favorite by significant margin. None of the others in it’s price range have its combination of easy user interface, features, accuracy and sleek looks.
Could I just buy one larger one and put it in the living room or should I get the smaller ones for each room? I just moved into an apartment that was built in 1989 with my eight-year-old and I want to be smart, but I don’t wanna overdo it

However I clicked the link to review AQMD's test data and they do not even test CO2 nor VOC. I was most concerned with my home's CO2 as my Velux skylight has an included temp/humidity/CO2 sensor and the CO2 reading was extremely high so i wanted to purchase a standalone unit and was drawn to your review of the QP Pro 2. I'm now having second thoughts after seeing that neither of those comparison tests were done.
Yes this comparison was based on particulate sensing. For CO2 there are two main options I would look at - the Aranet4 which is one of the best on the market but not cheap.
Another model to look at which also uses the NDIR sensors that are great for CO2 is the SmartAir CO2 sensor that was $69.99 last time I checked.
In general for CO2 its best to look at models that use NDIR sensors as these have been shown to much more accurate than the other technology on the market.
