Sadly, this does seem to be a common issue with the Levoit PUR131, as I have heard from many people who had this issue. If you don't mind the light, you can still use it as an air purifier, but replace it when filters look like they need replacing. nnFor the future, you may want to look at brands like IQAir that offer a 10-year warranty as standard - they cost a little more, but they last a lifetime. Alen also is higher cost initially but offer lifetime warranty if you get the filter subscription.
I am on my second Levoit PUR131 air purifier and recently changed the filters when the red filter light started flashing. I plugged the unit back in and the flashing continued. I followed the recommended steps of resetting the red light button on the side of the unit and tried holding the filter button down for 3-5 seconds as suggested. I've looked for a Levoit repair/service near me in Ontario without luck. I'm disappointed in Levoit for not supporting their product with service facilities and won't be purchasing another one because of this.

Thanks for taking the time to comment and agree seeing how many people search for "levoit red light", its clear they are letting people down with the information. nnSome other brands will just have a light with a "change filter" next to it, which is simple and easy to understand. nnRegarding filters, I have been testing many of the generic levoit filters and found many to be as effective when it comes to removing particles. They are often 50% lower cost, and as the Levoit filters are not HEPA certified, I don't see a significant downside. The only thing to watch is that some may have more or less carbon, which can affect performance, but I'm hoping to test a few of the popular generic brands so our audience knows what to expect. nnDo you think this would be useful to include on a page like this?
I bought a Levoit air purifier a few months ago after seeing all the hype online. It's been working fine, but last week I noticed a red light blinking on the control panel. Honestly, it was pretty annoying not knowing what it meant. I had to dig through the manual to figure out it was telling me to change the filter.nWhile I appreciate the alert system, I think Levoit could make it clearer what different lights mean without having to consult the manual every time. Maybe a small display with text would be more user-friendly? Also, the replacement filters aren't cheap, which is something to keep in mind if you're considering buying one of these.nOverall, the purifier does seem to help with my allergies, but the maintenance and ongoing costs are a bit higher than I expected. It would be nice if the article mentioned some of these practical considerations for long-term use, not just how to fix the immediate red light issue. make a calendar
