A food scoring system that assigns a better rating to "Coke Zero" than olive oil offends our intelligence. Nutri-Score is the obvious results of lobbying by Industrialized Food multinationals (Nestle, Danone, etc..) and friendly political interests from Northern Europe. A scoring system largely based on the "type" and "quantity" of macronutrients plus energy content and salt is an offense to any intelligent person with even a basic knowledge of nutrition science and food quality. The system does not discerner b/w "fake" or "real" food, and it does not account for the presence of harmful chemicals, antibiotics, carcinogenic agents, etc... scientific research needs funding and large multinationals provide more funds than farmers and artisanal producers, explaining why so many "scientists" are supporting "Nutri-Score" behind the "justification" that this is "better than nothing"... yes, it is better than nothing, as it will induce ignorant people to "trust the system" instead of taking the time to learn more about food.

I would really like to know more about this since it's the first time I've heard of it. Specifically, what is Nutri-Score, what does it propose to do, and who is promoting it. Unfortunately, the story makes it sound like the usual Italian chauvinism is at play here when perhaps Italian producers' objections have a strong rationale behind them. Tell us more. Please!
