Hi Daniel. This article has an important misunderstanding regarding Australia. There is no separate regulating authority for an olive oil standard in Australia. The AS5264-2011, which is a voluntary standard created by parties with vested interests using the basis of the IOC standard, but importantly and erroneously divergent, has not been reviewed or updated since 2011 and is not mandated or authoritative in Australia in any way, except amongst those who subscribe to it. The IOC standard is still the prevailing standard in Australia and referenced by the Australian government authorities as the lead international trade standard.
