I don’t think that any serious pro-life person really has the luxury of being “politically homeless” right now. It didn’t make sense in 2012, and it makes even less sense in 2022. One of the two viable parties has shown us exactly what it will do when given enough power. At the federal level they want to enshrine abortion on demand up to birth into law, effectively undoing all the hard work pro-life advocates have done to give unborn children legal protection over the last 50 years. This time, the abortions will be courtesy of the taxpayer and the modest limits states have put on the practice since Casey (parental notification, informed consent, safety inspections, bans on sex-selective abortion) will be gone. The only exception is partial-birth abortion, a debate the abortion lobby lost so badly that it doesn't dare revisit it. They are also trying to make ordering abortion pills as easy as ordering pizza (easier actually, because you generally have to pay for the pizza yourself). Women with undetected ectopic pregnancies are an acceptable price to pay, as are women coerced into having the abortion or poisoned with the drug by an abusive partner. They are also trying to gut conscience protections preventing pro-life medical professionals from having to perform or refer for abortion. Congressional Democrats then plan to radically change the rules so that they remain in power forever, and it becomes extremely difficult to repeal any of their garbage legislation. This includes packing the Supreme Court (which both parties decisively rejected in the 1930s, but it’s different now because there’s an anti-Roe v. Wade majority in place), federal takeover of elections (ballot harvesting, felon voting, removal of voter ID, less secure voter rolls), the elimination of the electoral college, and adding DC as a new state (giving the abortion lobby two new senators). When DC Mayor Bowser was presented with evidence of infanticide and illegal partial-birth abortion, she chose to destroy the remains of Cesare Santangelo’s victims and prosecute the pro-life activists that uncovered them. I think that is enough to show how imperative it is that DC never, ever be given statehood.
Democrats at the state level (save for a few, most notably Louisiana) have prioritized paying abortionists' student loans, preventing homicide charges against men that attack pregnant woman and kill their babies, and paying for abortions done on out-of-state residents. And that doesn’t even cover all Democrats are doing to exploit racial divisions, remove women’s rights, brainwash children in schools, and put them on experimental hormone treatment that results in castration. There’s no equivalency between the two parties.
