Re: race riots. Perhaps a better (and more timely) thought experiment would be to ask whether the people responsible for authenticating a presidential election ought to do so if the losing candidate refuses to concede and there's a strong possibility that his most rabid supporters will storm the capitol and try to lynch the vice president (rather than making it about race). We know for sure how which way every pro-choice person will go on the thought experiment at least...
