Thanks. I created the action (first time using Automator), and it shows up as an option now, but it doesn't actually work. Any idea what I would've missed?
Hi Paul. This works great. However, I need to be able to select multiple images and convert them to individual PDFs. This method combines them all into one PDF, currently. I download multiple text documents on a daily basis that have been saved as TIFF files. I need each of them converted to individual PDFs, not a combined PDF. I have an AppleScript that opens each file in Preview, and then proceeds to convert them to PDFs that way, but it takes too long. This Quick Action is much faster, but only if I can save each TIFF as an individual PDF en masse.
Hi, Paul. Thanks for taking the time for making this tutorial, really appreciated. I don't know Automator has such a useful feature. I used to convert Image/PDF with Acethinker PDF Converter on my macbook pro, free and works fairly well, share it here as an alternative to Automator.
Great article. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. However few questions;
1) Is there a way to save the new PDF file in the same folder as the image location? 2) Possible to name the PDF exactly as the image file name? 3) How can i find and edit the "Convert to PDF" workflow in automater. I cant seem to be able to locate the saved workflow (I named it "convert to pdf" as your article). Thanks! AMS
Thanks AMS! Yes, there should be a way of saving to the destination location and saving as the original file name. You can likely use "variables" to achieve this: http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/11/mac-automation-using-variables-in-automator/ The workflow can be found in the system preferences. From there you can reveal in finder or edit in workflow.
