Hey Paul and greetings from Greece.(long thread below, lol)This article was amazing! Being so diligent in tracking and reviewing everything (not only around productivity) is I believe the main reason of any success.Couple of questions:I noticed on the figure “projects and time entries” that you track “client work” “Sales” etc.Do you categorize any client work as “client work” or you keep a record for client.1, client.2 ?Im asking since im using Clockify and Im tracking each client separately in order to know how much time I spend on each client (I run a digital marketing agency and tracking time spend per client is important). Also when I track my daily tasks I go in more depth on client work, eg 1 hour on client.1 – email marketing, 1 hour client.1 – copy writing. My thinking is to know how much time I spend on each client on each project. Although it sounds good as a tracking procedure it creates a lot of internal hustle. What would be your suggestion on this one? Is it to micro thinking or not?Once again that was an amazing article of yours and it gave me a different perspective on productivity and work/life balance.Cheers and happy holidays.
Thanks for the comment! I track all client work simply as client work. I don't break down which client the work was for. This is just high-level tracking. I have a more detailed record of time spent working on each client in Asana.
That level of tracking is useful if the information is valuable to you. Be careful not to over-track for the sake of tracking.
