Any new insights into the subscription deal creation? I don't love the manual nature but agree with why you're doing it. Also, do you automate the creation of the new deal (for subscriptions). For example, if you have a client that has been (or you forecast it will be) on a subscription for 3 years, would you manually create 36 new deals or can you set this up as an automation?

Using Zapier we can automate the creation of the subscription on the deal when it's won. We could also use Zapier to auto-generate each renewal deal (which is what I do). Let me know if this is something you'd like to explore and we can quote for setting it up.

Hi Paul, For these larger deals with payment plans I assume you just mark them as won at the time the contract is confirmed and then go back in any time and edit the subscription plan if it changes?

If we were to follow your approach for better revenue recording, does that mean you don't have one primary deal anywhere that shows the three recurring payments? You just have three duplicated deals created for each month instead?

Correct!
I have three deals (one for each payment received) and the recurring payment plan set up on the first deal only. That way I can see an accurate portrayal of revenue in my Deals Won report and I can also forecast upcoming payments based on the payment plans.

Hi Paul, I understand your way of duplicating the deal causes the reports to better show cash flow. Do you know why Pipedrive isn't programed for monthly subscriptions to show similarly so that the manual duplication doesn't have to happen? I guess I don't understand why they didn't or haven't programmed something set up monthly to already show up in anticipated revenue? Thanks for any insight!

I can't say with certainty, but I believe they want the original deal to reflect the act of getting the sale. Then once you've won the deal, the subscription features let you forecast future cash flow via the insights. However, as explained in the lesson, I would rather see this in my 'deals won' report.
