As I mentioned in a previous comment, I am new to Asana. This class you offer is incredible! You explain everything so well. I have been intimidated by the fact my new work place uses Asana but I was creating a project along with you and I feel so much more confident about using it. Thank you!
IronMan, I completely agree. I am not new to Asana and have bumbled my way through for years. Such great teaching! I also learnt so much for this module and similarly feel more confident! 😀
As an example - I have 4 active projects. I want to look at all of my resources (team members) tasks and due dates in a single view using a time line view with start/end and milestones (something like a resource planner) - the objective is to understand availability and impact if we change priorities.
It might be that your account is set up as a Workspace rather than an Organization. If you look in your settings, you should see an option to upgrade it to an Org which will give you the option to add more teams.
Thanks for clarifying that comment only permission still allows the member to make changes to the tasks that have been assigned to them. Question... can members with comment only permission create new tasks for themselves within the project?
Hi Stacey, are you looking under the 'Customise' menu on the right hand side? It should be there. Can you perhaps share a screenshot here or via email?
Hi Paul, This is great, thank you! Is there a way to view a "dashboard" or snapshot of all projects per Team? As a PM, I'm looking for an efficient way to see the team's projects, get statuses, etc. without having to go into each project separately. Is that the "Portfolio" option with the upgrade? Thank you!
Yes, creating a Portfolio with all the projects in there would be the best option. Then you can track project status, % completion and see overdue tasks.
When you archive a project, will it notify of a task that was left due?
For example, I have clients that sometimes go on hold and they want to circle back in three months. I set a reminder to check in, but I don't love having the project on my list...can I archive and I'll get the notification still?
The task will simply stay on your task list even after the project has been archived so yes, you'll be able to set up the reminder task due in 3 months.
Hi Paul,
I have an organisation and I can't see the Dashboard the way you see.
I can't see a list of projects, just individual projects under each team. Is that a configuration I need to change on settings or do I need to upgrade.
To upgrade I can only select a minimum of 2 seats.
Thanks,
Hi Paul. I think I'm good. I think that is the way Asana works, projects organised within teams. Perhaps because you had just one team I didn't notice the difference. Thanks
So it looks like you simply need to change the team that you're adding the new project to. Alternatively, after you've created it, you can also drag the project to the correct team on the sidebar.
So i am trying to figure out if I want to be a organization or not. I want to be able to see everything and not have to open each module. I don't know if I am saying that right.
I think by 'module' you mean 'team'. You can upgrade to an organisation which means you'll be able to organise your projects into teams. These can be left open so you can always view everything, that's fine.
This is great! With regards to timelines, is there a way that I can pre-set the estimated hours or days into a template with dependancies and milestones? (I might be getting ahead of myself here, but I can really see how this would be useful.)
Yes, that's possible. Have a look at lesson 2.6 on templates and you'll see how this is done. You can create a project with pre-set dates, assignees, dependencies etc so when you duplicate the template, it's all ready to go.
