Hello Paul, a few questions:

  • Is there some kind of service to handle a bank transfer type payment?
  • When you say you would waive a fee, does the client see no markup during the payment process somehow?
  • How exactly is the payment request handled, a custom charge with the proposal PDF is emailed to them?
  • The payment acts as signing a proposal for "option 2" for example?

  1. One that I've used in the past is called CurrencyFair but I'm sure there are other, better ones by now.
  2. It is usually just something I'll see via email if they need a little nudge.
  3. I send the proposal. Once they confirm via email I send a link to pay on my website via credit card.
  4. Yes, in my terms it says 'Payment is made in accordance with our terms of service'

Hi Paul,

  1. I've haven't spent much time looking at bank transfer services but one that I personally used a while ago that worked well is CurrencyFair but there are loads of others worth looking at as well.
  2. When I send a link to pay, I just make sure there are no additional fees added. So it depends on how you're collecting payment and the method you're using.
  3. I send a scope of work as a PDF and a payment link to pay via my website. I state the when they pay they are accepting the terms within the scope.
  4. Correct! But if you'd like to get a contract signed as well, it's not a bad idea.

Hello Paul, a few more:

I think this is more my bank transfer question: Have you had requests to do a direct transfer instead of Stripe/other, and how does that workflow pan out?

Do you still use language about emailing with a selection to initiate the project?

Is the scope of work PDF a repeat of one of the "option X" breakdowns with more fleshed out?

I have and I just provide the details on how to pay to my NZ bank account but for you I expect it would be different and depend on your bank.

Sorry, I don't understand your second quesiton?

Exactly!
