New mothers experience a hormone roller coaster. She'll think she's fine, and then will be sobbing that she can't unscrew a bottle cap. This could be scary and bewildering for you. It will be worst at day 3, then get better, then bad, then better, then bad...you get the idea. Just be patient, tell her she's doing a great job, ask her what she needs from you, then do it. You'll both be exhausted, but great at the same time. Enjoy it all! It will fly by.
The baby will keep you up during the night, so try to avoid having scheduled early morning calls - or setup another room to sleep in, the days you do. Also if possible, don't work the entire first 2-3 weeks as Hayley will be exhausted after giving birth :-)
