Hi Paul, great article & podcast! I have a question though: What do you do if you are reading articles in Feedly and you want to highlight some pieces while you are reading? You could push it to Pocket and highlight it there, but it would mean interrupting your reading and switching between Pocket and Feedly for each article. Or you could push it to Evernote, which also causes an interruption and switching, and you say you only keep the best articles in there (which I think is a great idea!). And although you might have highlighted some parts, it may not turn out to be that great article that you actually want to keep. I'm really puzzled here because RSS-readers like Feedly and Inoreader (which is the one that I'm using) do not have a tool to highlight/mark text while reading. Do you, or anyone else, have a suggestion on how to fix my RSS-worklfow?
Thanks @mvdweer:disqus . Yeah the lack of a highlighting feature is a pain. I'd go with your suggestion of sending to Evernote and highlighting there. It's not ideal as you do have to switch, but if the article is worth highlighting, you're probably going to save it to Evernote anyway.
With this way of working I actually wonder why I should use Pocket or Instapaper at all... I think I will send the articles straight from InoReader (RSS) to a dedicated notebook in Evernote, called 'Read Later'. On my iPad I can access that notebook via the shortcuts in Evernote and on my Android home screen I created a shortcut that opens the specific notebook so I can start to read (and highlight) at any time. I can delete articles I didn't like and I can tag interesting articles to file them later in my Reference-notebook (I created a saved search for that in Evernote). Seems to me that there's no need to use Pocket or Instapaper at all... I like both apps, but it just feels like an unnecessary step in the process. One other advantage that I found by keeping my Read Later list in Evernote: they also show up when I search for something specific in Evernote. Sometimes whey I lookup something in Evernote, it appears that I already have a great article about it, but just haven't read it yet :-))))
Great tools and apps. I do the same with e-books who I enjoy or receive plenty of information from. I try to find them in physical version and if possible in hardcover.
Yes, a lot. It's a bit confusing as they are all in lowercase as single words. I have to stop and think how I want to find it later. Also liking the Favorite - perhaps even more. Just checked and it pulls up 185 in 1 second! Can always do a search, worst case. And add tags later.
I do the same, but have a harder time getting to Evernote (blocked on my work PC) so Pocket is good. Also I sometimes can save to Pocket, open within Pocket (if the site allows) and then share to Evernote. I find that strips out all the junk. Think I mentioned that in my post and you may have been talking about it too.

Not bad. I sometimes turn on voiceover to have the information come in through 2 learning channels. On that note, I use the Speakit! extension on Chrome to read content for me.

I've love your book summaries and have many of them in Pocket and Evernote. I wrote a post on those tools here:
