Hi Paul, I like your report, it keeps track of what you have done. Nice work! I also like the idea to plan 2016 from now. My recommendation that I need a tool to inspire the planning process. Thanks!
Have you started my 7-Day Productivity Plan? I would basically follow the process to work out what you want to achieve in 2016 and work backwards to plan out your projects and schedule time for the work.
Jot Script 2 Evernote Edition is something that I have bought recently that I enjoy. I like physically writing stuff down especially in seminars and meetings. This helps me with that without having to carry a notebook around and always having my notes in one place.
On another note. I just bought The Nest thermostat for our house in which you can control your thermostat from the app. For people like my husband and I, always on the go and not necessarily at set times, this helps us be more efficient with energy and our bills and less thinking about how we forgot to turn the air down before we left or if it's going to be the right temperature when we get home. One less thing to worry about.
The Nest looks so cool, I'd love one in our house, but unfortunately with the climate and houses in New Zealand it's not that common to have central heating/cooling systems. Maybe one day...
So here's one I don't hear mentioned much in productivity circles that is a HUGE help: a password manager app. Not only does using one save a ton of time (no more remembering/looking for/typing in passwords!), but it will help make your digital life much more secure. I use and recommend LastPass, for which a year's subscription is a great and inexpensive gift. https://lastpass.com/gift.php There are several other good options, too, if LP doesn't float someone's boat.
Also, I really like having a paper planner on hand in addition to my digital tools — helpful when I need to jot something down or draft a schedule. Franklin Covey (www.franklinplanner.com) has some wonderful designs — the large spaces for notes are fantastic for daily and weekly reviews! Great for productivity geeks who are not so wild about tech or prefer a mix of tools.
(Not a gift, but I just discovered http://momentumdash.com/. It's a Chrome extension that lets you create a beautiful new tab page with your main focus for the day front and center. Plus a couple other cool features :)
Cheers! Looking forward to peeking at the new 7 day plan.
Hey Andron, that's a really good point and I completely agree. I was using the "one password for everything" approach and felt this was pretty insecure, so now I'm using 1Password and it's probably the best bit of software I've purchased this year. I love the high level of security and great support for 2-step verification. I used to use Momentum, it's a very cool app, just haven't set it up since getting the new computer. Thanks for the comment! :)

I was gonna say the 5 Minute Journal as well since it's on my gift list this year. I'd recommend either a Jawbone Up or FitBit device. Not exactly productivity related, but kinda is.
As far as productivity apps go, I'd recommend Alfred for Mac. There's a free version, but the paid version is incredible. https://www.alfredapp.com/powerpack/buy/
Couldn't agree more when it comes to the FitBit. It's probably the best thing I've bought this year, absolutely LOVE IT! I think the awareness it gives you really is priceless!
My suggestion would be a subscription to https://brain.fm. I started using it recently, and basically, they provide background music that helps you focus, or relax, etc. It seems to be helping my productivity during work hours.
That's a nice idea. I've been experimenting with the Apple Music playlists but they're way too short. Spotify seems to be better for this sort of thing and Brain.fm sounds like a cool idea!
Love this idea. I've used the 5-Minute Journal app before (need to get back into using it). Perhaps buying the journal would help me to commit and fill it out each day.
Not really gifts but definitely productivity helpers:
Strict Workflow (chrome extension): Block any productivity killer websites for 25min. Each 25min you get 5min to rest according to Pomodoro's technique.
Noisli (website + chrome extension): Compose your own background and you're good to go. It has a 25min timer (optional) and a text editor too.
Limitless (chrome extension): It shows you how many time you spent online. Seeing minutes increase when you know you are escaping reality is a clever way to get back to work ;)
Strict Workflow prevents me to sign in with social media, I will come back later... ^^ Edit: Yeah !
Yeah I really like the sound of Strict Workflow, although I'm not a massive fan of the Pomodoro technique. Can you have it run continuously with no timer?
Hey Paul, Something you can include in your post is the Productivity Planner by Alex Ikonn. It's an amazing book that helps you prioritize and finish your most important tasks of the day. I've already used it and it's really helped get me get more stuff done.
Morning Paul, the best productivity aid that I can suggest is to sign up to Less Annoying CRM. It has revolutionised my work and compensates for my failing memory.

Hey Paul, regarding your call for topic ideas here are a few: Mac productivity enhancing apps: Speech recognition for mac, text to speech on mac, better snap tool, popclip, yoink, and skitch.
These items create a hell of a workflow. I'll be making courses on how they work, and how they work together. Killer stuff I tell you :-)
